problems connecting to smartphone

Almost never able to connect my Samsung phone to the car android.
Any pointers or tips??

Have you tried a new cable? They are a bit like a teenager, very tempremental when they age.

None of my phone data cables worked so I bought a pucka one no problems since

I don’t know if this will help but I couldn’t get Apple CarPlay to work, it turned out it was turned off in the restrictions on my phone.
