Radio not turning off when turn car off

Your MG5 is supposed to work this way. The radio (or USB player etc) switches off when you lock the car

I can't answer for your specific car but that is certainly what happens for me in my 2025 MGS5.

Yes, resets volume level on both the XPower and FL5 after it’s been locked. Prev Seat Leon and Mitsi Outlander PHEV also did this - is a pretty standard feature these days…

My radio turns off when I lock the doors which has taken a bit of getting used to.

However, when I restart the car the radio is not 'muted'. It plays the last radio station I was listening to. Maybe your muting can be because you were listening to something on android auto and it has reconnected before the infotainment system boots up?

I assume you have the Facelift version of the MG5?

With my previous car, a pre-facelift 5, turning off the car also turned off the radio (no need to lock the car to achieve this) but turning the car on again also started the radio, unmuted, on the station last listened to.

I don't think this difference in behaviour has anything to do with Android Auto or Car Play.

I was responding to flivoless's post about it starting on mute. My car doesn't do that so wondered if he last listened to something from a different source rather than the radio which, when turning the car back on doesn't immediately reconnect, giving the impression the radio is muted.
