Still finding it confusing that when I fill the tank up it shows 330 miles range but if it’s a 12 gallon tank, surely it shoud be more than that. Then it seems to go down quickly, then seems to have think and range appears to slow even though I am in HEV.
Also electric range seems to go down quickly from 100% to 60% but stays around this for quite abit.
Have had the car since 3/10/25 thought it would start to learn my driving habits by now.
Any one share any thoughts on this? I would be interested to hear.

I thought that the PHEV had an 8 gallon tank (37ltrs).

If you're in EV mode then it runs the battery out before switching the engine on, unless you accelerate harder, in which case the engine will kick in.

In HEV mode the battery works alongside the engine until it reaches 45-50 miles range left and then the engine does most of the work but also uses the battery slightly - and then recharges the battery back to the previous range.

I don't take much notice of the projected range figures, to be honest.

Thanks for your info
Yea I can’t find anywhere what the fuel tank capacity is, 8 gallons wud make more sense.
Glad you don’t take much notice of projected ranges thought it was just me I tend to look at blue and green lines.

The MG HS PHEV has a fuel tank capacity of 37 litres. While some sources have mistakenly reported a larger 55-litre tank, this capacity belongs to the regular petrol-only version of the MG HS, not the plug-in hybrid model.

  • PHEV tank size: 37 litres
  • Petrol-only tank size: 55 litres (not applicable to PHEV)

AND

Just to throw in my 2 pence worth. And to add to the saga…..
When you rush to convert this into the more familiar imperial system (ie Gallons)
First choice on Google is 37L = 9.62 Gallons
This is however USA gallons.

37L is 8.14 Gallons here in the U.K.

It is also listed in the new HS Owners Manual, with the only difference being the 2.0T engine we dont get in the uk

I have regularly, (once every two months or so) filled my current model eHS PHEV with 48 or 49 litres, so the tank is clearly bigger than 37 litres.

thanks for confirming it’s bigger than 37ltrs

I thought it shud be 55l but when instrument display says strange remaining mileage it made me think again and it is hard to find the info

There seems to be a lot of confusion about a very simple question/topic. For the avoidance of doubt, I have a 74-plate (October 2024 registered) MG HS PHEV (also known as the "2025/new-model").
  • If anyone is unsure what I mean by this, it's the one that looks like the picture in my profile.
Ignore what you find in Google, or any other manuals or documentation. My car has a 55 litre petrol tank. I know this because when my car is almost empty, I can pump over 50 litres of petrol into it, and the man at my local garage charges me about £70.
=> It is absolutely definitely 55 litres (not 37)

In case it is helpful, after I have filled up my car to the brim, it normally tells me I have about 600 miles (approximately) of range on petrol-only.
  • However, exactly as @Amun says, I broadly ignore the figures quoted on my petrol range. It is highly inaccurate, and changes wildly
  • Instead, I just pay attention to the blue and green lines (like @SteveHS Plugin said)
My MPG figures vary, but I probably get approx 45 mpg most of the time (when on pure petrol)
=> I reckon I can do about 550 miles real world on a full tank or petrol (with an empty battery)

Hopefully this puts to rest how large the petrol tank is for a UK-spec 2025 model MG HS PHEV Trophy!
:)

Thanks this makes sense to me
Like you say mileage figures wildly inaccurate mine has never said 600 miles range perhaps if will in the future🤔

The last time I filled up it actually said 500 miles range, which is the highest it's ever said.

The most I've got in the tank is about 55 litres. So I think the tank is bigger than 12 gallons, which is about 45 litres. Yes I run mine right down to empty :D
