S6 Dash cam fitting using OBD port.

If the intelligent parking function is turned off can I assume the dashcam won’t draw any power at all even if it’s perm live?

The Nextbase automatically powers off when it stops receiving power from the car (usually upon turning off the ignition). If hardwired to a constant power source, it enters a 30-second standby mode after movement ceases, or you can enable the "Auto Power Off" setting in the setup menu to shut down completely. This of course needs added in its settings and means you will lose parking protection, but it’s not needed with the low power usage while dormant.

I have a Nextbase 522 currently hardwired to my HS fusebox with switched live. The cable routing is just the same as yours. I don’t need or use the intelligent parking function. At the moment once ignition off the cam stayed on for about 5 secs then switch itself off.

Going to OBD route might be the way forward if/when I do have the S6. Really can’t be bothered to take the dash apart to hardwire to the fusebox again.

Just concerned about battery drain on a perm live connection if parked for 2 weeks. Or maybe just pull the OBD plug off to be sure.

I left my 522gw parked at the airport for 2 weeks at the airport in my x power on 2 occasions with no issues, but as you say simple pulling the OBD connection or even removing the camera itself could be an option if you are concerned.

OBD port connection is far easier than going to the fuse box.

Well I thought ny data contribution was finished, but this morning I saw live proof that the conventional battery does in fact get charged when the algorithm says it needs charging from the main battery.

Car sitting dormant and charging.

By fitting one of these devices would it potentially drain the 12v battery over time if the vehicle is not used for a long period of time I’m thinking of putting one on my MG5 trophy

Correct me if I’m wrong I’m sure somebody will but If I remember correctly the 2nd generation of the MG ZS EV had a USB port in the back of the rear veiw mirror has the later models I:e S5/6 not got this feature.
Les.

The others may have a c port take off, I know the 5 has, but not the 6.
