TBH I don't care what my car looks like as long as it does what it says on the tin and is pleasant inside and nice to drive. I've never bought a car for show or looks and I tend to like quirky and techy.
Some on here said the same about the 5 and the new ZS's front end, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Besides, I could always just drive it at night if it upsets people.

I honestly believe many people select their car based on what is popular rather than what they want or need.
