Scratch

Just got back from the shops and found a deep scratch. Huzzah.
See photos. Whether it is down to the metal or the primer, I don't know.
Probably a very basic question, but do I need to get this scratch professionally repaired? We aren't terribly concerned about the look but want to make sure this isn't going to lead to further damage (rust, bubbling, etc).
I've done a quick google and the recommendations are conflicting whether this can be DIY patched or not.

If your not bothered about how it looks, do it yourself. Touch up paint should be readily available. Take your time and do the best you can. Or give it a good go with a polish. And just leave it. Sometimes touching it up, can make it look worse.

The sacrificial plastic on the wheel arch will cost you £14.00 to buy if you feel like replacing it yourself.

Yes, it's perfectly doable yourself if you are a fairly handy person....if you see what I mean! If the scratch is fairly deep you can use something called a 'body stopper'. This fills in deeper scratches making touching in much easier. Personally, I'd watch some YouTube videos on how to properly touch in scratches. There are many good ones. It's not hard. Surprisingly you may think, you can get a really professional finish if you follow some of these videos. But order your paint touch in first.
