Servicing Costs

Hi all

I bought a used MG5 last year from a dealer (2022, currently done 36k miles). Booking in first annual service and absolutely staggered by the prices.

Is this typical? Bayliss MG Gloucester. How can a 4 year service possibly cost the best part of £400. Particularly given one of the selling points of EVs is the low running costs.

I've only ever used independent garages for previous vehicles, but having to go to dealer in order to maintain warranty.

For MOT, do people tend to get this done at dealers - or do they treat that as another money spinner too?

Baylis Gloucester are hopelessly out of kilter with their service pricing. I asked them to quote for my 4th service (low mileage) and they said their system doesn't recognise the low mileage option so came up with a figure of £372.44 for a standard mileage service.
Checked two other places nearby and they came up with much more realistic quotes:

Drive MG North Bristol - £150.94
Cinderford MG - £108.50

As you would guess, I'm booked in with Cinderford.

I have service plans for both my MG5 's but use my local garage for MOT'S.
