So as far as I see it after setting it to anything other than normal after locking and unlocking the car after a while the driving mode always defaults back to normal. If I would like to set it permanently to Eco mode for example is this possible? If not through user config maybe by dealer or through OBD config?

You can set it up so it uses the star button though, so not ideal but better than using menu.

I end up using "SNOW" mode via the star as I want regen off/low and don't want to have to fiddle with screen.

Why? You can directly toggle between 1 and 3 using one of the star buttons. In fact I have drive mode on the one side, and regen on the other.

Because the cars air con system in is even more annoying (and used more often) so it makes sense for the other star button to be used for aircon controls for me.

My A/C system is never adjusted ... 21°C and Auto, and it all seems to work well. 🤷‍♂️

(I did get an HVAC module update alongside 1100R38 at service #2 mind, and HVAC has worked very well since then).

I don’t have that upgrade so I have the pee poor factory rubbish where it’s not consistent, blows hot, cold, fast, slow. I mean what is it with these cars being greenhouses. Until then I need control so I don’t get baked, froze or blown. Yep a 25 plate, and the cooling system is poorer than a 70’s car.

It’s not an upgrade, but an update. Purely software, so complaining to your dealership about this might be enough to get it sorted without cost. Although you might struggle finding a decent dealership in the UK, going by what’s posted here on the forums.

Just for clarity, the drive mode resets whenever the car comes out of Ready mode, ie when your bum lifts off the seat. And it defaults all those settings whenever it goes into Ready mode as well, so if you change your settings (pre-flight checks) and then put your foot on the brake to go into ready mode, your pre-flight checks will have to be done again.

Other than that, ECO mode has a very limited impact on range, I would say the biggest difference is the gentler throttle curve. This can be helpful if this is your first EV, to get used to the instant torque. But once you get a feel for the car, it’s not worth changing the mode imho

One observation when using the star button to adjust the drive mode: once you passed by the Snow mode you will lose the One pedal drive option if you had selected that option already. In that case, better select the drive mode and One pedal drive option from the screen

This is why I use Custom. I first push brake pedal. Than I select Custom followed by setting all options, including OPD (if I want to). I have drive mode on the left star, regen on the right star. If I need to adjust HVAC while driving, I use voice control.
