Hi guys, thoughts please about getting off the pcp treadmill and settling at the end of contract. I will have about 30k miles on my ZS at the end, well within the 4 year deal, and I have to say up to now (no tempting fate 🤔) it’s been fantastic with a great dealer literally around the corner from us. I reckon I’ll have about 12k to pay on completion. Anybody out there done this, are you sorry or glad? I did have a sit in the IM5 which did seem fabulous but a bit overkill for Tescos (yes I’m old) although we do have a 500 mile found trip every other month in summer. I can do it on a home charge either way (in summer) . Be interesting to see what going to happen to the market after the budget! Thanks guys

I have had to settle a few PCP contracts, but never by paying the settlement amount out myself. I did change to a HP a couple of times, who just added the remaining PCP cost to my HP and paid it off for me. the only issue was I had to go cheaper on my next car to keep the payment down.
this time, I am no PCP currently, I will probably just upgrade at the end, and stay on PCP. I know that I will never "own" the car but for me its all about keeping the monthly payments down verses HP monthly cost

My MG5 is now 100% all mine.

I chose to ignore all the texts, emails and letters 👹. Today the final payment came out as a DD.

It's all mine, no more monthly payments.

If you are thinking of changing then the new MG S5 seems a good bet. It's getting rave reviews all over the world. A little more range than our ZS's but not much. All the latest tech etc & a slightly bigger car with a more modern design.

Regarding the PCP treadmill, the options are to trade it in &/or settle the PCP account. Come away with a new car on PCP, hp or buy outright. I have friends who PCP all their cars everytime. 90% of private new car sales in the UK are PCP'd. It's quite convenient for many folks.
