Used this today in Cheltenham, a machine boasting "UP TO 175kW".

Charged from 36 to 97%.

Didn't see any prices on the machine or the screen.

After we unplugged, I checked our account and there were two payments taken, the first one for £45.00 and the second for £35.48.

I guess the first payment was a test and will be refunded?

So you got around 50 kWh of energy? £35.48 sounds reasonable for that. 70p per kWh on a fast charger.

Electroverse states the cost as 85p per kWh, so £45 would be about right.

But I hope/expect you are right that you will only pay one of those fees in the final analysis.

Surely it's not legal to leave the actual cost so ambiguous!?

Maybe Shell figure that hey, this is the wild Brexit west now? ? So no need for those pesky Euro regulations, like telling people what they're being charged?

Yes the £45 will be funded it’s just a holding charge. If you use shell recharge via the app then it doesn’t take the holding fee. Shell recharge are pricey at 85p per kWh.

Same happens with BP Pulse, its a security charge held against your card, then charged actual amount used.

Can anyone with the OIG tariff tell me what it would cost at home on the 7p rate to charge from 36 to 97%?

As the battery is 64 kWh, 61% of that is 39 kWh. So the answer on paper is £2.74. But then you have to factor in charging losses, and I'm not quite sure how much to add to take account of that. Might be 10%? If so, the answer is about £3.

Someone will be along to correct my arithmetic soon, I'm sure.

97% - 36% = 61% = 0.61 x 61.7kWh* = 37.637kWh x 7p = £2.63. Factor in an efficiency of 90% then the actual cost would be more like £2.92

At a charge rate of 7kW it would take (37.637 / 0.9) / 7 = 5.97 hours to complete.

* The usable capacity of the 64kWh battery pack is 61.7kWh

Oh I thought Trophy LR referred to the Extended Range. So my calculation above was wrong and that explains why the cost seemed much more reasonable than it was (70p vs. 85p)
