Im thinking of getting one - is there a significant chance that the points of contact to the car might introduce microscratches?

I used one on my MG4 for 2.5 years and now on the MGS5 and have never noticed any micro-scratches. Mind you I wash my cars regularly and I'm careful how I put it on and off.

For me, life is too short to care. 50% of my driving is on single track Kent roads (for those that don't know, most of the rural roads in Kent, even within the M25, are single track, it's like a time warp to the 19C) and I am quite sure that I will have macro scratches, probably dents, before long

For living in the 19C you want to try Brittany. The 19C is modern. Shops close for 2 hours at lunchtime and the only shop open on Sundays is the boulangerie for a couple of hours so the French can get their daily bread and the rush hour consists of 4 cars on the same stretch of road.

If a bank holiday falls on a Tuesday (bank holidays are on a set date not the nearest Monday) a lot of businesses will take the Monday off as well.
