Smart Key Not Detected Car Not Starting

Help Please!!

My MG ZS EV 2021 Exclusive - is in a Bodyshop for some minor repairs. It was driving and starting all ok.

However, after the front driver door loom was unplugged. The car wouldn’t start. There are 2 messages on the dash ‘Smart Key Not Detected’ & ‘Put Key In Backup Position’.

I have put the key in the front cup holders as per manual instructions. Still same error.

All The doors lock and unlock after the door loom has been plugged back in. Still no luck.

I only have 1 key for the car.

Any advice/help to get the car back on would be much appreciated. The car has the handbrake on and not in neutral so a pain for the garage as it cannot be moved.

Thanks in advance
Ajit
hi did you slove it in the end

Evening all,
So just had this happen to me whilst picking up the better half.

Side note.. I have a 25 plate HS Trophy, not EV (sorry).

Thankfully my son was at home and was able to bring the spare key to try that and it worked instantly.
Drove home with both keys in the car, about 15 minute drive.
When I got back I tried the key that went funky and it worked perfectly, locked and unlocked and started the car without issue.

Not sure if driving with the dodgy key in the car was enough to reset it or what but its done the trick, atleast for now!!

Will be onto the dealership tomorrow anyways because that simply isn't cool :(

Hello! The same problem here, but with an MG4 EV, the car isn't recognising the smart key, it can open and close with a fob, but the car is bricked and won't start, even though the key fob is in the back up position as per manual. I tried both fobs without success, didn't try to remove the 12V battery yet, the car is showing the following messages:
Any known solution found?

Where is the back up position I’m dead trying to find it

They took my car for few days and gave me a new zs ev as a replacement, and they upgraded some software, not the infotainment, it still the factory software.
They called me after few days and said that the Body control module (BCM) needs to be replaced, they ordered it, I took my car back today and I will bring it back to install it once it arrives. I will update here if it works.
Yesterday finally after installation of the body control module, a few updates, the car is back to normal ( it took them more than 3 months to fix it, and my infotainment software is still the factory version, they said our region don't get the newer infotainment software update, so if i do not turn off LKA and AEB before every lunch my car can kill me.

The problem started on March 28th, on my MG4 se, I couldn't enter the car by pressing the door knob, so the only way to enter was by normal fob unlock. After sitting the car wouldn't turn on, ( no start/stop button on mg4 but a pressure sensor under the seat like for the seat belts) so another unlock press needed, afterwards a warning sign images attached was showing. In order to turn on my car I had to unlock for the third time then press the brake, only afterwards the car will be ready to start. After driving, the doors locks automatically after a certain speed and the warning beeping comes again for 15 times. Then everything is normal till you turn off the car.
The fix technically by installing a body control module ( the one attached is for the mg4), i was told they configured the key fobs for the new hardware, and then installed some software updates.( Not for the infotainment system in my case).
