Solar and battery storage

I'd suggest that anyone thinking of doing this get professional advice as there's a lot more to it than this legally and safely.
Absolutely, it has to be done by a certified installer.

My point was that it does not have to be the "expensive" solution frequently offered with specialist control gear, the actual requirement of not being able to be linked to both supplies at once can be met quite simply.

At present there's a big cost issue with the requirement for a Type B RCD - they are around £200 each in the UK. Adding a suitable Earth can sometimes be expensive depending on your circumstances.

Point accepted as long as people observe the correct gender for the associated leads.

I've I stalled Givenergy Energy 8.2 Kw

No. I've got a GivEnergy battery with a separate plug socket attached, so if there's a power cut I can plug things in that will work from the battery. I sked the question but apparently getting the battery to power the house if there's a power cut is complicated and very expensive. So I e got what I can. Cost me an extra £200 on the install as I recall
According to their website (see below), and I've had a quote from them too for a GivEnergy system it covers blackouts. If that just means a socket you can use that is quite misleading as I presumed that it would take over and everything would run as normal should a power cut occur.

You need to check very carefully as it is unlikely that they mean what you are expecting by the term emergency power.

I think you are right, it is misleading to us not in the know, Joe Public.
