Speed Limit Recognition Issues

My speed limit recognition system on my Jan 2025 MG ZS EV LR Trophy Connect works fine in nearly all situations. It occasionally might miss a partially overgrown speed limit sign but it usually gets them ok. This is pretty much the same as my other cars...so I'm happy.

One thing to mention is that my car had a completely new software suite loaded into it not long after getting it. This included R27 Telematics which then allowed every other computer module (6 of them) to be upgraded. You cannot get these other updates without R27. These updates were significant & designed to improve the cars systems & provide one or two new features. The car was hooked up to the MG server for over 3.5 hrs. I believe earlier cars without these updates may not be performing in an optimal way for things such as the speed limit recognition etc etc. I must say the whole car is performing faultlessly at nearly one year old now. Of course, this is what one should expect!

Sounds like a completely different experience than i have with mine that has R25 and thus, the older stuff in the other modules.

I wonder if the "Gold service" subscription i have with the MG certified workshop will do these upgrades as well.

Massive disapointment, that such an update for the infotainment is not sent OTA, this would cut down on the time needed to upgrade all of the other modules massively.

I am going to do a firmware version readout on all the modules possible with the eZS app, i hope this will reveal if they even touched anything.

They did state on their online booking website that the car had to be delivered with atleast 50% SoC, if not they would charge me extra to charge the car, as they would not be able to do firmware upgrades if the car was delivered with less than 50% SoC

Yes, I thinks the 50% SoC is fairly standard re when going in for service. It's worth pursuing the complete software upgrade route if you can but the amount of time taken to do them is a main dealer concern. They may not be keen if the car is performing ok. Would be great to have proper over the air updates but doubt that's coming anytime soon.

I have an agreement with them to look at the typical clicking sound, to see if bolts needs tightening, discs needs replacing or steering rack needs replacing, if they are efficient, they could have the computer put on, doing it's thing while they do the inspection and so on.

They have allocated 3,5 hours and the first inspection would not take nearly that long as far as i can see from the "What needs to be done, year one" sheet.

We will see, i a certainly going to press them on the issue, especially because they specifically mention it needing to be at 50% or more to do software. If they then did no software i will talk to them about why no software was updated when i know there are updates available and they indirectly, but specifically said that it would get updates (Why mention the 50% if not)
