Things that make you go Arrrgghhh

It was looking glorious two hours ago 👌
There’s a mass of German registered Porsches playing on the roads from around Loch Cluanie to Fort William. What a bunch of numpties !!
If one holds out to overtake, they all hold out, then there’s panic and brakes all over the place to squeeze into any gap and flash lights at anything with the temerity to be heading north !
And to compound the issue, they’ve all pulled in to a dockside hotel obviously for lunch 😱😱😱

I’m plugged in to a Tesla dispenser in Fort William charging at 293 mph - about the speed them Porsches were practising

People that indicate at the same time as actually making a left or right turn....
Absolutely annoying as I am now already aware your turning that direction by you actually turning.
If they had done the bare minimum of a couple seconds notice with the indicator other could either be aware to slow down sooner or pull out, but no. We all have to wait due to these people that indicate when they start turning instead.

Just noticed a police car opposite in the car park here so went over to report the Porsches.
“Thank you that corroborates the story again” - they’ve had a glitch of reports and have sent a couple of squad cars to the hotel.
That’ll spoil the fish course 😍

and idiots that can't understand that the merging lane when entering a freeway is for getting up enough speed to match the traffic flow, not crawling along and coming to a complete stop because there wasn't a spot available for them to slot into

You're lucky they stop over there... over here so many drivers who join a dual carriageway expect you (driving on the left lane) to speed up or slow down for them or, worse still, expect you to move into the outside carriageway. They then either 1) get angry if you don't or 2) just barge in and you have to take evasive action :( Whereas a slight change in their speed would let them slot in, in front or behind you.

I was more concerned about the more timid drivers on the road and just the way they were driving

Not indicating. 🤬
Drivers who don't acknowledge when you've let them out. 🤬
Constant lane changing, just to get,
5 yards further on, and then usually don't finish up any further. 🤬
And just, tossers in general on the road, and there's a lot of um. 🤬

That road is where Wille McRae failed to take a bend and rolled his car twice, nearly into the loch. He was probably drunk at the time, but it's not a road to be trifled with. The conspiracy theorists are still insisting he was murdered by Special Branch to this day.

We might never know.
Personally I really like those roads. They’d be fine to drive fairly fast in a decent handling car - but NOT when Joe or Jill public are going about there business/ taking children to school etc.
I was going to wax lyrical about the wild life which also inhabits those roads but there’s some on here would have it that my freezer’s brim full of road kill over and above what I can forage on the beaches 🙀 win I cannot 😂

Actually, I have a related but opposite gripe. If two streams of traffic are merging, maybe when exiting a car park, merge in turn. Don't be so bloody polite that you sit and let a dozen cars pass in front of you until the driver behind you is ready to get out, rip your door open, reach down your throat and strangle you with your small intestine.
Gosh you’ve a gory brand of courtesy in them parts 🫣
You think foxes are bad, you should try kangaroos.
nah mate that's a bit of a jump beyond.

Actually, the absolute worst I ever experienced of that happened in Kent. About an hour before I experienced a micro-sleep on the M25 and only avoided a crash because the driver on my right shoulder sounded his horn. Which is why I can see that the principle of the LKA might have merit if they could ever get it to work.

Clearly not BMW drivers then .......

BMW drivers I'm guessing ;)

So that's the reason why reports on Nessie have gone quiet , did wonder? 😀 😀

So,

What are the things that get you extremely irritated on the roads.

My current Meldrew moment is drivers who stop on a busy thoroughfare to let the first car from a side street to get out, thereby stopping all the traffic so it bunches up, creating additional danger for everyone, including the car from the side street, and creating a tailback making it an extremely long wait for the other cars looking to join from the side.... and even more annoying is the pratt who has nothing immediatley behind them stopping on the main thoroughfare to do the same (if they had carried on everyone would have got out), meanwhile other traffic has caught up with them creating another bunch up. Passive aggressive at its best.
This happened to me the other day however it was on the M5.

I was coming down the inside lane doing 65mph, there was 2 cars in front of me (blue car then a white car at the front) doing the same speed and plenty behind. There was no other traffic in front of the white car.
We went past junction 5 where I could see a car parked on the joining slip road, the car at the front (white) slammed the brakes on just before reaching the parked car, the blue car had to suddenly swerve into the middle lane narrowly missing the white car, I managed to stop OK but then heard tyres screeching behind and I sank into my seat waiting for the impact but luckily it never happened as the car managed to swerve past me but hit another car in the middle lane which then caused a lots of problems.

Needless to say the lady in the white car said she decided to do an emergency stop and let the parked car join the motorway. She said she did not realise that there were any cars behind her.
After all this the parked car was broken down and was not even attempting to join the motorway.

Anyway the Police arrived and we left.

Other things annoy, like you say when other people stop even when traffic is really light to let someone out, who could of easily pulled out after I have passed as there is no other cars behind.

People who drive at 20mph on a 60mph road causing tail backs, I get this all the time with the occupants of a local OAP farm (retirement home)

People who come up to a car or lorry on the motor way who then...
1) Pull out without checking mirrors or signalling)
2) Proceed to pull out and then go the same speed at the vehicle they are passing therefore not actually passing

People who slow down to a near stop when coming to traffic lights on green.

People who go through road works so slowly the oncoming traffic lights have gone green and we all get stuck because they are so nosy at what work is being done.

There is a long 200m stretch of narrow road by where I live which has cars parked all down one side (for the railway station as the rail station now charges for parking and the big car park is always empty). For all these decades what the locals do is who ever is passing the parked cars then gets right of way as there is no where to pull in and cars tend to drive faster to get through quickly as possible.
So, some people even though the lane has oncoming cars will force their way down cause traffic jams because they can be bothered to wait 30 seconds the cars to clear the lane. Happens loads of times an hour...
Some people will drive the 200m at 10mph which causes problems with traffic build up on the main road ahence why some get frustrated and try to force their way down again causing problems
Numerous times when cars who try to force themselves through usual end up in the deep hidden ditch on the one side so again traffic problems happen whilst tow trucks are called to pull them out. The local council and highways refuse to ban parking on this road.

Oh and I forgot to add... People trying to kill me by driving towards me on the wrong side of a dual carriageway - it's happened too many times 🫣

I remember sitting behind another car waiting to turn left from Bush Loan on to the A702, after dark. Although the other car was also turning left, he passed up on several good opportunities to turn when nobody was approaching from the right, but there was traffic coming from the left. That should have been a hint. Anyway, he turned left, but then took the right-hand lane. On a single-carriageway two-way road.

I didn't know what to do. I flashed my lights a few times, but I was reluctant to sound my horn in case it transferred his attention to what was behind him just at the moment when a car came round a bend towards him. Eventually I dropped right back so as not to be involved in a crash, should that happen.

A car did come round a bend towards him, but he managed to pull to the left just in time, and the cars didn't collide. It was the closest shave I've ever seen. A few hundred yards further on he signalled right and pulled in to the car park of the Flotterstone Inn, probably to sit and calm his nerves for half an hour or so.

I don't know what you do. You can't paint "links fahren" and "conduire à gauche" at every intersection in the country.
