Hi all finally decided to return car to dealership,I've had enough of all the so called characteristics bull shit from MG UK and the dealership, ? Couldn't really enjoy the car because of the over revving issues etc ,and getting the runaround from both the dealership and MG UK . So it's a ford puma mild hybrid for me fantastic no over revving as it's a different hybrid . So it's good by from me , it's been a joy having my say on this forum regarding different things And the feedback .so it's cheerio from me or for my Gaelic brothers Mar sin Leigh " Goodbye.

👋.. you weren't tempted by a BEV then, MG or other make?
No not the time for all electric for me . I still enjoy the combustion engine but don't have a problem for all the Guys and lassies who run all electric. One day perhaps but definitely won't be MG unless they get their after sales in a better way of working , because it's atrocious at the moment.👍

You will enjoy the puma . The wife has one and it’s good to drive . Hers is an auto so has the remote start . Clears a lot quicker than my HS+ .. good luck with the new car 🚘

Just for context: I rented a Puma ST Hybrid from LHR in October and within two days the engine had packed up. A two week-old car!! According to the AA lad that came to my rescue in Kent it 'Happens a lot with the Puma hybrid..' So it just goes to show, you can't bloody win. I believe it all comes down to whether you get a 'good one' or not. So far I love the ZS Hybrid + I have over here - apart from the high revving and occasions where it genuinely feels like I have run out of power, yet equally it could easily reach well above legal speeds and feel very planted - I try not to compare the engine to my wife's V6 TT as they are night and day different, but if MG could resolve the revving on even small gradients and what they don't see as an issue at all then I'd give it 9/10..

I was interested in many hybrid cars before buying the zs hybrid, namely : Hyundai Kona, Honda HRV, Kia Niro , Toyota yaris cross, Toyota corolla cross, Nissan Qashqai e-power, Peugeot 2008 & 3008, Renault Arkana & australe.

My conclusion : even if MG ZS was in the same price tag as those , it would still rank high among them by all standards of design ,quality, reliability, and refinement. MG punched so hard bigger than it's weight. I do think the chinese will dominate the industry of electrified cars .
Europeans will have to hold to patriotism and diesel . Anyone who still believes the french make good cars has probably drunk a 50 years old champagne bottle ;). (For the japanese i am sorry too because i have found yaris cross to be among the most overpriced and overrated cars)

I agree all manufacturers have good and bad cars, problems are expected. But a problem only becomes a major item if it is not sorted. Why cannot manufacturers and dealers see this and make an effort to solve the problem without all the excuses and keep customers happy with the brand.

Hi I’ve got the same problem dealerships say it’s ok but the mg hs hybrid + doesn’t have the same problem apparently gearbox has 5 gears opposed to 2 on the zs hybrid +

I will agree; Despite more than a few quirks, I still think that the MG is a strong contender in the small SUV segment; I have driven most cars in this segment, many of them - as it is a popular segment for rental cars in European holiday destinations - over an extended period, and really most have their weaknesses as well; The MG is certainly among the most spacious in this segment, general build quality inside is also among the better ones in the segment (some Stellantis products feel super plasticky, as can base VW group cars), the cassis is not bad, and tech is, again by class standards, quite okay (the MG pilot's "self driving" is definitely way above what B segment cars tend to have); And most hybrids also have their quirks and detached from pedal feel, arguably the Yaris shows Toyota's 25+ years of experience in hybrids, though the 3 cylinder can sound very trashy at times; And generally, it feels tinier and occasionally cheaper than the MG, despite being quite a bit more expensive;

Generally, many new cars seem, apart from the whole ADAS tech, often somehow less substantial than say cars form 2010-2015, tanks to downsized "green" engines and general cost savings everywhere;
