Hi Guys,

Tomorrow I’m going to buy my first ever PHEV — an MG HS Trophy (73 plate). It’s a second-hand car with just over 25,000 miles on the clock. I’ll be driving it back from West Yorkshire to London, so it’ll be quite a first journey with this new “alien” technology for me! 😅

I’ve never driven a PHEV before, so I’m a bit nervous and would really appreciate any tips, tricks, or things to check before or during the drive.

I used to be a big Skoda fan, but wanted to move up to an SUV, and MG seemed like a great choice — good reputation, modern tech, and still affordable.

Also, I’d love to see this forum become a place where we all help each other out — sharing real experiences, advice, and fixes. That way, we can all enjoy our MGs with more confidence and fewer surprises!

Looking forward to learning from you all.

To the forum. Congrats on your new motor. Enjoy. 🙂👍

Guys, thanks for the replies. all went good. drove back home safely 10pm last night. It consumed 26.14L for the whole journey. I guess it was 225miles. Is it normal for this car? there wasn't any floormates. they gave me some just to start with nut they do not fit. I like the adaptive cruise control. I hate no Dome light, no footwell light and ofcourse rear parcel shelf cover blind. Thinking to buy an after market rear parcel shelf cover blind. any advice of any kind will be appreciated. thanks

It seems they didn't give me any locking nwheel nut. i couldn't find it anywhere. does it not suppose to come with it?
You have to buy them separately not included, get mats from car mats I got a rubber cover for the boot when I had a HS and fit was excellent, also recommended you look on the MG website for service plan.

Really! It was a second-hand car owned by the MG Head Office. If I had known, I could’ve asked the sales guy. He gave me an extra home charging cable and floor mats too — though those mats don’t have holes to fit the fixings. Anyway, I’ll look into getting rubber ones. Which website did you buy yours from? Also, is there anything we can do about the boot cover? I really hate that curtain-style one.
