Tow bar mystery...

Is the problem with fitting a tow bar not the same as the MG 5 roof rack. It is all very well if you fit it and only use it for a bike rack but when it is sold on the next person down the line will just see a tow bar and perhaps tow a caravan with potentially devastating results.

Apparently tow bars are a permanent modification according to some insurers and they bump your premium up so they can cover what you're towing, such as a caravan etc.

I gathered that from the fact that you were thinking of buying it, but my point was that the insurance companies will consider it a modification regardless of what you're using it for, in your case they would say to cover bikes attached to it.

In NL een afneembare trekhaak voor € 635. Alleen tbv fietsdrager tot 50 kg. Met € 75 extra ook het chassis verzwaard tot 75 kg. Is goedgekeurd door overheid.
