Anyone else find that their front wheels spin on a wet road when accelerating? I’m not a foot to the floor type but when accelerating up a hill in a wet road the wheels spin briefly - it would be great to have a dual motor in these wagons

Yes absolutely in fact I can spin the wheels accelerating at Almost at any speed

The traction control isn’t up to much, I find if I accelerate briskly to overtake the torque steering is pretty bad

My sense is it was the same system used for the Chinese ice version of this car and then the lower powered Chinese ev

The European version got a much larger motor but no changes to suspension or software I would guess

The upside is it can really really surprise people

The original tyres would spin all the time I now have Michelin Cross Climate 2'S and the grip is much better not so much spin

My journey back from work has an uphill T junction where I turn left. Tricky when it’s damp and wheels are turned.

Yes, the traction control isn't that good - so one needs to be careful how to lay down the power.

Yip, mine spins the wheels all the time unless I'm careful. I think using Eco mode helps a bit.

I very rarely spun my wheels in Normal, I guess my right foot isn't quite as heavy as some others.

My front wheels will spin if I'm a little eager pulling away to enter a roundabout, especially if the road is a little gritty. Never when actually driving though.

I've only ever found it a problem if I accelerate aggressively.

This seems to be more a tyre issue, swap the back to front to see if it makes a difference..

I had Michelin e primacy on the front ( I would never use them again)

I Put the rear Bridgestones in the front and it’s much much better

I had same issue with original tyres, so I'm a great believer in winter tyres and had them fitted to the front. Original tyres covered 10k miles. I've now done 24k miles with 4mm left on the winter tyres. Yes I still get wheel spin but only on 3/4 throttle or above on set off.

I’d better check the tread on mine - only had it 6 months but done 12k miles.

The MG5 tyres wear on the inside so you cannot see it, so spin easily as they wear.

My original tyres spun at all speeds, even at 70 but the Cross Climates are much better.

33k miles and just put the third pair of fronts on, just saying

21,000 miles and just made my first tyre change from new - replaced the front tyres (back ones still OK). With most of that mileage being done in the Highlands of Scotland where conditions can be best described as challenging at times, I thought that was OK.

Just had 2nd service,26,000 miles on our MG5, Front 6mm, rear 6.5 on original Michelin Tyres.
Love our MG5,great car, just wish it hadn't depreciated so much

On the standard alloys and Bridgestones yes it would wheelspin in the wet easily, since changing to bigger wheels and wider tyres it won't even spin in Sport mode in the wet from standstill. Just takes off which is awesome.
