I've just had my two front tyres replaced at a tyre specialist garage (i.e. non MG). I asked while they were fitting them if the TPMS needed resetting; they said it should automatically reset.
On the way home, I had the tyre pressure fault warning notification and dashboard light come on. Checking it showed that the system was reading one of the changed tyres, but not the other.
The only assistance the handbook is giving is to consult an MG dealer; presumably at over inflated (pun) labour rates.
Is there a workround, or a known reset process?

I had the wheels swapped around at the first service and all four tyres changed recently and no issuses with the TPMS. How far have you driven as I think they calibrate after you have driven for a bit?

I did the same. One was immediately detected by the car, the other took longer but self-detected after driving a bit (sorry, can't remember how much!)

This is helpful, I want to put my front tyres on the back and the back on the front, do you think it will figure it out? I was going to get a app to reset the TPMS via my OBD 2 port. MG Seafood quoted £54 to reset TPMS.

I had mine wheels swapped front to back at 1st service, to be honest I rarely check them but they are normally much the same readings, after a long journey the fronts maybe a bit warmer. If there was an issue with any of them I would check them all anyway.

Not sure regarding MG5 but on the ZS Gen1 if the wheel position is changed, it can not relearn the new position, it needs a recode of the TPMS.
It should be mentioned in the manual somewhere for the MG5.
If it’s the same as the ZS Gen1, it’s not a major problem, you just have to remember if you get a warning for a front tyre it will actually be a rear tyre that is in question 🤣.
ZS Gen2 does have a relearn feature though.
Once the rotation has taken place, on the next trip out, it should relearn after a very short drive.
This is taken from the ZS Gen2 manual.
