I do think it's a bad choice of name. Having 2 MG4's, that are entirely different cars, seems a bit silly to me. Should have just called it the MG Urban and left out the 4.

I am quite liking the styling, think I prefer it to the 4, less "weird".

Does anyone know if this is another example like the 5 was, in that it's not really an MG, but a shoe in from one of SAIC's other brands with the badges swapped out, to fill a mid size hatchback, "budget" hole in the market?
The MG4 is build on the MSP platform (specifically designed for foreign markets) the urban versions seems to stand on the nebula platform (which seems to be a different version of MSP). As there isn't really another EV from SAIC that I know of in this class I think it's not just a rebadge. The S5 also seems to be based on nebula.

I wonder if we'll get that nice sunroof here?

5 Star crash test looks good - hope it doesn't go like with some MG3s which had a fatal material issue in the seat mounting brackets.

I think we are getting the sun roof as the MG4 is a mass vehicle I don't think they will change that much between different markets to keep the production as straightforward as possible.

Not sure about the roof, the 5 had a sunroof in other markets, but we never got the option here. Also, as it costs a lot less than the other 4 here, there is incentive to not give too many options to make it "too nice", or it could curtail sales of the other model.

Really nice to see more conventional "Golf" sized/shaped hatchbacks coming to market, rather than yet another SUV too. :)
