Unexplained downhill overreving when hitting 61-62 km/h.

I have had the latest software update applied - September 2025.
Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? When going downhill (not always on a steep decline) with no pressure on the accelerator at all the vehicle will switch up to 3.2-3.4k revs or more when hitting 61-62km/h. Every time! There is absolutely no reason I can fathom for the vehicle to do this. I appreciate that in a manual car it may be safer to gear down in certain circumstances like this perhaps on a winding road, but not under the circumstances I am describing.
In addition, after the update to the software the vehicle is slightly over-revving all of the time (compared to before the update)
I plan to reach out to the service garage about this but I want to check if anyone else has noticed this beforehand. Hopefully its just me!

I believe that is using the actual engine braking, once the battery is full for regenerating. Whilst not a nice sound, it helps not to rely or overstress the regular brakes on longer downhill passages in the mountains, and IMO this is actually increased through PD052. Some hybrids do suffer form weak engine brakes, as well as some of these downsized tiny 3 cylinders, so I guess is better than nothing. Generally, the fine tuning could be better, but if I'm not wrong early MG3 Hybrids were criticized for weak engine braking once the battery is full.

That's certainly a possibility. I can change the regenerative braking recharge setting down to 1 on similar journeys and see if that makes a difference. It really is an awful sound/vibration and hard to imagine there couldn't be a more sophisticated solution.

I think the regen setting will probably only help little once the battery is full. But certainly might be worth a try. And yes, the engine does have a very unpleasant mid sound above 3k RPM.
