Vehicle control system fault take it to your MG dealership.

Update: my car has not moved in the car park at MG Leicester (Apple Air tag in the boot) but MG UK have extended the Polstar 4 for another month 👍 I’ve done over 1000 miles in it so far and I’m hoping they keep my Xpooper until May as I will miss this when it goes back 🫡

Blimey.... that's a long time waiting for a repair...
No wonder if this was not a warranty repair and the hire car was through insurance why insurance prices are sky high...

Well, here’s a fun little update…

The brand new Polestar 4 hire car has suffered what can only be described as a full-blown, catastrophic failure… after covering a mighty 1,200 miles. Truly heroic stuff.

Mid-journey, I’m greeted with a very ominous message from the dashboard (never the friendly kind). A quick call to the hire company and Polestar Assistance later, and out comes the cavalry — courtesy of Alliance Recovery.

The recovery chap takes one look and casually says: “Ah… we’ve seen this before. It’ll need recovering as no one has managed to fix this message!

Four hours later and numerous phone calls the recovery eventually arrived and I handed over the fob, wished him the very best of luck, and made my exit.

Thankfully, I was auditing a pub at the time (every breakdown should come with such perks). After a complimentary pint to steady the nerves, I Ubered home like a man who had accepted his fate.

Apparently, a new luxury car is arriving tomorrow. I did politely request that it not be a Polestar.

Once bitten, twice electrically immobilised.

So… am I jinxed? 🤦

Stay tuned for the next thrilling instalment of “Cars I Have Angered.”

What the actual f.....

Definitely it is not only the MGs. I had a front motor failure on my Model 3 less than a year after I got it around 12k miles.
The irony was that back then Tesla was advertising the dual motor Model 3 as having the benefit of still being mobile with a motor down...Yes; sure thing.....

Update: The car has still not moved and I’m quite enjoying the Capri courtesy of MG UK but, I informed the finance company Santander Business regarding the issues as it is their car after all (2 years into a PCP deal) who said that they would investigate the issue but need 8 weeks, so yesterday was that anniversary and I called them, after 25 mins on hold the advisor told me that the case had been closed? I questioned this to be told that as the issue was not in the first 6 months from purchase it was my responsibility! I explained that I was paying x amount of £’s per month for their car that hasn’t moved in 8 weeks. I tried various angles at which point (she was on speaker phone to my wife’s amusement ) she said “I’VE TOLD YOU THREE TIMES NOW ITS NOT OUR PROBLEM” and basically shut me down and good by!
I suppose I can go to the ombudsman but as I have the hire car I don’t want to jeopardise this.
So the morel of the story is I will never buy an MG again (sorry MG UK as they have been great) and will never touch Santander business finance again. At least MG Leicester were true to their word in saying that they can’t look at it for 4 months 🫡

Your experience matches exactly our experience with the wife's BYD.
Car developed an issue during the first day of delivery!
Dealer could not repair and we ended up with rejecting and replacing.
It took some effort but BYD delivered.
When raised with Santander though they washed their hands of it.
When I dared to mention that it wasn't even a month of having the car so they need to help me on rejection the reply was that it is my problem....

Abysmal service from Santander same play book as MG UK in the wife's first couple of years with her 4

You have to be in the know...armed with the knowledge of what the legislation is, then confront them.

I can't remember if I told this story here before, but we got a fridge that went wrong. Long story short, we had it repaired. Then it went wrong. Again and again. Eventually, they gave up repairing it. It was due to a design fault in the wiring loom which connects the door to the fridge body. By this time it was beyond the "12 months" guarantee. But CRA 2015 gives 6 years.

So I decided to aim for a refund, it at least a partial refund, to cover future repairs.

So I rang them asking for a refund.

The guy told me it was out of warranty...there followed a big discussion about CRA2015, and eventually, after many discussions and more phone calls, it was agreed that I would be refunded the best part of the purchase price of the fridge.

IDK about the ins and outs of rejecting a lease vehicle, but it's got to be worth researching.
The service from both the dealer and Santander are atrocious.

A point of pedantry (who, me? :D) ... it's not the CRA2015 that gives 6 years, it's the Limitation Act 1980 which allows a claim to be brought within 6 years from purchase (or 5 years from discovery, in Scotland). But the rest of your tale is correct. :)
