After applying to have an EV wall charger fitted I've finally got an instillation date just over two months after accepting the quote. It would have been sooner but it was discovered the meter and main supply was attached to an asbestos backing board. I then had to arrange and pay £120 for the board to be tested to determine the type of asbestos and wait for a specialist team to be arranged. While they are at it they are going to fit smart meters too.

Just got to get an EV now 🤣

2 months....luxury...mine was over a year due to my neighbour being looped into my mains supply cable. Resource, wayleaves, temp traffic lights, road and pavement being dug up. Then delays getting the physical charger:eek:

Who says going to EV home charging would be easy. At least it was all free as the car came with a complimentary charger:)

Charge point: Good morning Alan, you are looking very well this morning.

;) :D

I got my first charge point way back before I ever even thought I realistically might get an EV, probably in about 2016 or 2017.

Working form home, I was reading about EVs one Friday morning at about 9am and reading about Polar chargers. I must have filled in a web form to get more info, but the next thing I knew the phone rang and a nice lady offered me a charging point. She said it was free.

I did explain that I didn't have an EV, and I wasn't about to get one (though I suppose I knew I might, one day), but after establishing it really was free (thanks, taxpayers!!) I said OK, when can you install it?

It was completed by 12:30 the same day. Very neat job and cabling up to 32A spec even though it ewas onyl a 16A charger. And free.

It served me well for the Ampera, but it did pack up. I found a really nice guy who I sent the wallbox to, and he returned it with much improved internals, including uprating it to 32A, for a not-horrendous price. He's still going, and is very knowledgeable and will, I believe, make up custom cables if required, so here is an unashamed plug (no pun intended!) for him.

Hopefully this is the correct thread to hoy this in……

Zappi Ver2 ..

So had an issue with the scheduled charge (00:30 - 04:30) being used for a few days now, mostly been fine after initial user error 😁

last two times, the Zappi has finished charging at 03:30 despite car being under 80% SOC.

CHecked MG app for any signs of conflict settings, non-apparent

Checked Zappi clock updated automatically…… it did

called Zappi, they confirmed that the charger was set to the times I have said, and did not know why it stopped short as everything seems to be set uo correctly.

Told me my firmware was slightly out of date, so we installed latest software in a few seconds.

Zappi then started charging…. Went red and bricked saying ‘Pilot Error’

Awaiting a technical Lad/Lass to contact me soon to try and sort out.

Also: just for info …. I did not realise the Zappi currently does NOT automatically update. I am sure most of you will already know this, but For the uninitiated, and maybe newbies to EV and Zappi, this info maybe of help.

Cheers 🍺
