I was taught that topping up the washer bottle was part of the weekly checks together with checking the other fluid levels and tyres etc. Also before driving away walk around the car to check nothing is untoward.

And before you think I'm being OTT, I said I was taught to do these checks, not that I do them every time

I had to sign a certificate to declare that I did them if I was driving for work, to get my mileage expenses paid.

If you did want to rig up an alarm you could look at something like this...

Which you can run in level detection mode...

It is battery powered and runs in bluetooth mode for short distances between your phone and the sensor.

My MG has a spray from the washer jets and my VW Kombi x 2 have washers jets that use heaps more water, probably all works out the same water usage
