Bought a used 2021 MG ZS and after year and a half ownership car stopped in heavy rain. Totally Kaput. Car brought to MG who looked at it 2 weeks later ( as no

one to look at it) and when diagnosed it was water ingress into battery. Opened up and crack to under shield but also 2 bungs missing out of 3 on main battery compartment. My question is would there be a reason why they are missing? And also what are the three holes for? Servicing?, corrosion, fell out!!? Please see pic

Have a look at this:

(y) and, for anyone with a ZS with water ingress, it's worth reading that whole thread too

Thanks yes I checked it out and the three are pressure relievers in case of overcharging or overheating from the batteries. Two of mine were missing when battery compartment was opened up! Are these visible when car gets serviced or can they just pop out if pressure builds and battery goes kaput! That's what I am trying to find out but MG say warranty void due to water getting in these holes. Unless your in a flood are these low down enough for water to get in from rain water splash up on roads.

Don't get transfixed about where the water is coming from. The question you need to concentrate on is why these pressure relief valves have failed. Failure as a result of external impact would point to a customer liability whereas just "falling out" would indicate a warranty issue.
I get the impression that these vents are sacrificial i.e. they are replaced rather than reset after operation so perhaps a genuine overpressure event actually pops them out in their entirety? You'd obviously want to know if that happened but it's difficult to imagine such an event not generating one or more fault codes.
