How foolish do I feel ? I have just learned from another site that when type 2 charging, the dangly bit from my cars socket fits nicely into the dangly cover of my type 2 cable. No more wet cover. !
All these years and I had never sussed that. I'm sure everyone else on here knew it all the time.

Hangs head in shame 😞

mmm nope, me neither, wrong shape on the MG4 anyway, I'll need to check the S5 later.

/ignore, early morning mode still engaged.

Bet they, didn't. 😉🙂👍

The dangly bit from my car's socket covers the DC pins, so that cover never even gets removed when Type 2 (home) charging. ;)

(The MG4 doesn't have any cover for the Type 2 part .. not really needed given that the port is at the back-left of the car). :)

Good point, well made. ahem...

The wife's byd cap is a tight fit when plugged into the charger cable cap, however my mg5 is a sloppy fit but easy to separate after a charger.

Sums up my life :ROFLMAO: 😇

I guess so my new found knowledge is only useful to those with dangly bits that cover the type 2 pins. ooh er missus. :)

The Type2 male and female plugs at each end of a charging cable plug into each other, so it makes sense that their rubber covers also fit into each other.
Indeed it does make sense, however that doesn't mean I thought about doing it. 😂

The first time I showed my type 2 cable to a friend's husband (I was staying at their house and charging at nearby destination chargers) he immediately did that. I had had no idea.

I just tuck the rubber cap of the charging lead into the hinged part of the charging port, opening facing downwards and then just close the flap until it touches the plug.
On the other end I lift the outlet flap on the type 2 connector higher and tuck the plug cover facing downwards between the sprung cover and my connector.
