Just over seven days before someone decided that I'd had too good a run and it was time to remove the gloss from new car ownership. Fortunately the damage is pretty minor, but it's no longer a nice, shiny, new (to me) thing. Anyone know where I can pick up some colour matched bumper paint?

I had that happen to me (unknowingly; just one scuff, not two) in the short time between cleaning/checking my previous car for damage and selling it to Cazoo. Even though they admitted it was in great condition, they knocked £800 off the price offered.

Edit; your best bet is to check with the dealership, I don't know if that is a painted part or coloured plastic.

She's in for a service on Tuesday, I'll see what they suggest. I've washed her in the interim and discovered there's more damage than first appeared, the gift that keeps on giving !

The culprit was a carer, visiting a neighbour. I didn't have the heart to make a big issue of it, looking at her car suggested that she probably couldn't afford to pay for the repair, and putting it through insurance would only result in mine going up next year, probably by more than the cost of a smart repair to rectify things. Based on what information I get back from the dealership I may attempt a repair myself, who knows this could be a learning opportunity

That lower bumper part was £220 for us when we had it replaced along with the (painted) rear bumper.

The lower part doesn't need painting. However, labour to fit it was not cheap.

That’s very nice of you, but I would point out that she should park in a manner she can afford in future perhaps. Not that I would have had the confrontation over it to be honest, I would’ve let it slide too I think.

it was a low speed event, lets hope that this isn't an issue. Which genius designs an electric car with the charge unit located right behind the bumper ???

There is also a metal bar behind there, which is pretty strong.

So fortunately there doesn't appear to be any hidden damage, however, the dealer advises that touch up paint isn't available and suggested that a smart repair might be my best option as they can blend the colour at the time of the repair. This seems like a brush off, the bumper is a painted item (as is apparent from the pictures, the layers are clearly visible) perhaps a message to MG UK might be in order, if nothing else they may be able to confirm the Pantone details so I can get a shop to mix me a small batch, assuming that's a financially viable option.

Check with PaintNuts or similar (there's another one recommended but I can't remember the name)- they'll almost certainly have matching paint.

I would go with the earlier suggestion of Chips Away. They are not cheap, but the quality (from our local Reading branch at least) is immaculate. They quoted £1500 for a repair that cost the insurance company £8000 . Chips Away also said that colour matching is no problem, especially on a new car.

I got some MG paint from Brown & Gammons when I had some pockmarks on the car's bonnet. It's exact MG stuff without the dealer markup.
