What car did you replace with your MG?

Replaced a Renault Megan estate with MG5 PFL. Gaining working aircon but I do miss the flatter boot without taking out the seats, also the under floor front footwell cubbies. Next will be an EV - hopefully with vehicle to grid support.

Most people bought an MG to replace an ICE car. Some people replaced another EV.
What car did you replace with your MG, do you miss your old car and when you compare the two, how would you describe the experience of MG EV ownership?
In 2021, I bought a pre-facelift MG5 Exclusive to replace my Peugeot 308 SW, passed on to my daughter.
I still have the MG5, which has been excellent - now at c. 38000 miles. I wanted an estate and it was the only one available then. Saw it in my local EV Experts, Guildford. Paid about £23K. MGPapa

I replaced a 3 ltr diesel Mercedes S class ( my 8th one ) with a IM5 LR ....
Ride is slightly firmer , seats more comfortable. Panel fit general quality is comparable , very surprising.
Running costs , not in the same ballpark . Not having to refuel , the wait and making time to do it. Roadtax 25% liable to drop substantially as the Merc tax loading is going to increase . Load capacity , 125 % better . Range anxiety , what range anxiety I charge twice a month , plus I don't drive more than 200 miles at a time without a break for food/drink/charge on a longer trip . Which I spend around 15 mins route planning for if I haven't made that trip before.
Rear seat room and access in particular as the door is longer an opens wider , great for older passengers.
I have heard people complain about paint finish issues but weather it's because I had a ceramic coating applied , I have not seen any problems there.
Three months in I have not seen the Merc out perform this car , let's see what happens over the next 3 years .

Went from a Passat estate to the MGS6. There are some things I miss from that car. The headlights for one. Much better, and it had matrix lights as well. I also miss the lane assist and adaptive cruise control on that car. Soooo smooth and would follow a car without jerky behaviour of the MG (and ALL other Chinese cars I've tested, including BYD, Xpeng, Zeeker7 and Honqi). I still wonder why and how the Chinese have not managed to make the assistant systems anywhere near as good as even 10+ year old German cars.
I mean, BYD have more people employed in their R&D department than the entire Mercedes corporation!

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV > FL MG5 Trophy.

What do I miss, the MG will be short lived in terms of corrosion underneath, there's little / no protection the Mitsubishi was well protected and was showing no signs of corrosion underneath with 170,000 miles on the clock and 6 years old. The Outlander did feel more solid than the MG5.

The MG5 is frustrating in places, no one pedal driving, dreadful MP3 player navigation. Other than these items the car is great, a little more room would be nice but the design, quality of the interior is great. The performance is adequate and it seems very efficient. Experience of MGUK as company both directly and hearsay is not good hence why it's off our list when we go shopping in September.

21 plate Vauxhall Mokka-e Uktimate 50kwh and a Fiat500e 42kwh. Don't need two cars now but longer legs is welcome.

So MG4 Trophy LR 64kwh is the replacement. I was initially looking at the ER but that was an extra 100quid a month. Seemed a lot for only an extra 50mi or so range.

When I retired, I got a MG ZS Trophy replaced that with a new 2026 MGS5 Trophy

Before I Retired a Merc EQA before that a Tesla model 3 a couple of VW golf GTE's a Toyota Hybrid, BMW ICE Merc ICE all in the last 6 or so years
