What does the MG5 SOS button do?

Ive pressed it on several occasions when stuck, it flashes and then nothing.

anyone have any ideas what its for or what ir does?

Try holding it in - I've tested it and got connected to an emergency centre - not sure but I suspect it uses 2G ?

just wondered as i got stuck on the m11 with no ccs charging on the car and had to use 22kw ac to get me 250 mile, it took 11 hours going from small villages and towns, and i tried pressing the sos button every time i had to re charge and got nothing

what it says happened, eg beeps and display, but then nothing. Wont be trying it again.

I accidentally pressed it about 6 months ago - after a short while a voice spoke, but I couldn't understand it as it was really garbled. A chap I know who works at the AA says they take the SOS calls.

It phones the emergency services, I pressed it while blindly trying for the light switch. Pressing it again did'nt cancel it and it was a very broken line to the call centre. I called out my mobile number and he phoned me on that and just asked if everything was ok, i explained the pressing of the wrong button, and he said "dont worry it happens all the time, we just needed to make sure you didnt require emergency services". Daft place for the button to be positioned.

Have you had the 12v battery replaced, the code means nothing to me.

When my car was new to me , I was randomly pushing buttons to switch lights on ..and got connected. Quality was very poor but someone definitely came to my aid..I was mortified and apologised profusely

You would but it needs pairing to the mobile phone the car is using

Not sure that's true, I don't think there are any user changeable settings for the sos and it uses its own esim so no need for any mobile phone to be in the car.

Well, my rescue call number was set to the incorrect county and phone number, not the UK one. Changed it on the app and saved it, however I have not tried to use it so far. Rescue call… switch country and set to UK.
