Just to say thanks to all contributors for tolerating my various stupid questions before taking delivery of a new MG4 in the best colour! ( red ). We travelled down overnight , 310 miles to the supplying dealer and collected the car without issue .
Our car came WITH the puncture repair outfit and also dealer threw in a charging cable and with a bit of arm twisting a 2nd hand granny charger ! Sat nav worked flawlessly directing us along endless unfamiliar roads although it calls roads ' I ' -74 and mentions interstate a few times ! Maybe a setting somewhere?
Initially coming back through Nottingham and M1 etc consumption steadily rose to 4.6m per kwh. As it became darker and rain started , use of lights wipers heating etc dropped this to around 3.8m per kwh . Stopped twice for charging and it could not have gone easier . What was I worried about all along ? Car feels well planted and has a good turn of acceleration when needed. Brake feel needed a few minutes to get the hang of with regen . Steering and the dreaded LKA is a nightmare in wet flooded roads where there were no road markings and tarmac wear tram lines on parts of the M74 fill with water and aquaplaning while steering being pulled this way and that by dim witted LKA can lead to a few moments but not worse that the Peugeot hire car we travelled down in. A totally unnecessary addition to modern cars if you know how to drive .
I need to get to grips with heating and ventilation as windows were steaming up constantly and we just used the analogue panic mode screen clear button which switches everything to max In short bursts !
All of these menus are a nightmare and I believe this is why LKA is fitted as drivers will be careering all over the road trying to get a basic function that used to work via an obvious switch !
Been out today applying a nice coating of bilt Hamber wax but it was too damp and some blooming occurred but it will do for now. Apparently if you refuse their £600 of lifetime paint sealant ( aye right ! ) they just hand over the car as from factory. Only negative I have found so far , and a bad omission from PDI, is the 12v battery -ve terminal clamp was loose to the point of the nut being within 2 threads of falling off on the road home.
Overall we are well impressed for a first venture into EV . It is a relatively ' cheap ' ( with eyes rolling) car and yes some interior materials are on the cheap side but I don't get into a car and run my fingernails along the door cards every day while muttering ' scratchy plastics ! '
