What's the deal with one pedal?

Every time I change conduction mode, one pedal is automatically disabled. When i stop the car, one pedal is automatically disabled. It's almost like MG don't want you to use the feature at all. There's any reason for this?

Setting it up every drive will soon become natural. You'll still be really annoyed you have to, but will automatically fix it by habit.

But why would one pedal turn off when changing driving mode?

It makes no sense. It can be even dangerous if you don't expect it.

MG4 is a great car, but it feels like they really don't want to pay a quality team to finish software. Some parts are very polished, and others are like this.

I know what you mean. I've often thought having a 'profile' button on startup, sort of like Netflix, would be useful. Change the parameters (minus the ones that need to stay on for NCAP reasons) and save the profile...one for me, one for my wife, one for my mother, in my head that would be VERY easy to do and really useful.

Snow mode forces a change of regen setting, so if you are cycling through modes to get to a different one then this might be a reason. Do you see the same behaviour by directly choosing a new mode (that does not include snow) e.g. Sport to Normal?

Haven't really used OPD much and by chance decided to turn it on for my commute yesterday - got taken by surprise when car didn't slow as I was expecting and discovered it had reset to off! Learn something new every day...

I've tested and

• It's indeed cycling over snow mode what disables one pedal automatically (and also lane assist?).
• Additionally: I've found when one pedal is on, the 'regen' star button is locked (this is intentional).

The best solution I've found is to just forget about the lame "driving mode star button" and use the infotainment system to manage driving settings instead.

In fact, I've found keeping the infotainment on custom mode, and just changing the horse power as needed is the most practical thing. That way I can change horsepower while keeping my preferences like pedal sensitivity (not available on other modes).

Now the issue is I can't see the maps at the same time if I do that.

I guess I could have maps always open, and only switch to the 'custom driving mode menu' when I need it (for example when entering/leaving mountain roads).

That seems reasonable... I hope one day we get user profiles and we don't have to think it so much!

I’ve had my Trophy LR for just over a year and find it really annoying to have to switch single pedal operation on before each trip. Once you’re used to the feel it can be quite a surprise to suddenly notice the different feel if you have forgotten to engage it.

Imagine my surprise when a friend brought home his Trophy LR this week and SPO stays on.
So it’s probably a software tweak?

Mine stays on, usually, sort of. The car turns it off silently if the battery is close to fully charged or if it's particularly cold or for any other random reason it can think of that I haven't discovered yet. It's weird.

In MG S5 coming soon, there is a save button. You still have to to recall the setting every time but it is still much better. This car is based on the same platform and seems to be very similar to MG4s. Will it work it's way to our cars?? Fingers crossed

I think I’ll stick with my MG4. Regarding ‘permanent’ single pedal driving, dealer tells me that appears on what I see as a phase 3 version of MG4 along with lighter headlining.
