Hello.
I hope this old thread can still be read... I would like to know if anyone has 16" rims for the MG 4: I would like to make a winter wheels set with 16" rims, but I have doubts about the correct offset. The database of wheel-size.com says that the offset for 6.5Jx16 rims should be 41 (+/- 2) but this sounds strange to me, since the offset of 17" and 18" rims is 51. In some car models the smaller rim also requires a little smaller ET indeed, but a difference of 10 mm seems too much to me. Also for other MG models, the ET for smaller rims varies at muximum of 1-2 mm... Can anyone confirm the correct ET for 16" wheels of MG 4 standard range?

Hello @H32, welcome to the forum, the wheel-size.com information sounds correct to me, the smaller 16 inch wheels will probably require a bit more clearance from the brake calipers, which, if you're comparing 6.5J wheels, the ET41 will give you.

You'd need to check for brake caliper clearance too as above

You'll get 18s on, no trouble at all.
19s should also go on easily.
Width wise, 8" no problems. 8.5" should also be no problems. Brake Caliper clearance will be fine. But obviously do your homework, plenty of sites, to check wheel size fitment.

Thank you. The difference between ET 51 and 41 is not so large indeed. I will trust wheel-size.com and will mount the 16'' rims from Audi Q2, which are 6.5Jx16 ET 41.

Ah sorry didn't read your post. I was replying to the 1st post, which I've just realised is from July 2023
You might possibly struggle with 16s they could possibly catch the calipers, particularly the front. Only one way to find out try um. Good luck.

The 16" measure is in the official user manual as an option and the 6.5Jx16 is the adviced measure. The offset is not specified but I found the 41 value on wheel-measure database. The smaller value is probably just due to a smaller rim size (all the other MG models only mount 17, 18 or 19") to be sure that the brake caliper is not bathed. Thank you

Not sure what the agreements are in the UK but here in Western Australia we (as a tyre shop) were always allowed to return rims to the wholesaler as long as no tyres had been fitted (except for expensive drilled to order rims). So maybe you could check with a local tyre shop to see if they can sell you the rims. It will probably cost a little more, but the risk becomes theirs not yours.

I could potentially test this for you. My daughter has a VW New Beetle with 16" wheels. They are most likely the same size and offset as the Audi Q2. Wouldn't be until the weekend though. Wife has a Polo with 17" rims. All with the same PCD, so could be fun experiment. My wife would not be impressed if I nicked the BBS alloys off her car, and swapped them for the MG ones.
