My wife was driving roughly 20mph or slightly less, and overtaking a parked car, another car that was waiting started to come - but both had room. As the car was passing, my wife describes the car as 'stalling'. When you didn't have the clutch down and it jokes and stops. She said it completely stopped. No alarm or noise made to indicate it was a safety feature, she says. I have had it when stopping deliberately that it sort of judders as it switches off but that might be the wheel turned too much or something, unsure.

We had a service a couple months ago, no issues. Tyres were flagged as a potential replacement soon, and we have had some skidding when turning onto roads, but otherwise no issues.

What could this have been?

That'll have been the AEB ... Autonomous (Automatic?) Emergency Braking ... the car thought the other car was going to crash into her. Pressing down on the accelerator overrides it. I'd suggest setting the sensitivity to Low (if it isn't already).
