HS PHEV
Hello everybody - I am amongst the luckiest boys in the world, for I have a brand new HS PHEV (ok, that may be an exaggeration, but I do really like it!).

In 90% of circumstances, it is the perfect car. It carried all the Christmas shopping yesterday, it’s good at long distance runs l, easy to drive around town, and the 75 mile (alleged) EV range is enough for most of my needs.

It isn’t without its quirks, but I may post a new thread about those, as this one is to ask a specific question.

It’s quite rainy here in the UK at the moment, and I’m finding that whenever it starts to rain, the windows mist up and I have to keep the demist function running permanently to keep the windows clear, which is noisy and annoying.

I’ve got the AC turned on, temp set to 22, recirc off (bringing air in from the outside). I don’t see how it would be relevant, but I use the car in HEV mode rather than EV.

I’ve cleaned the windows properly, and checked the carpets for any sign of leaks (I hand washed the car over the weekend and checked all of the openings afterwards). No leaks are obvious.

I did wonder if it was a quirk of the car, so I rang the salesman I bought it from, but he said that he’d sold the same model to numerous people without any streaming issues I thought, well, he would say that, wouldn’t he? So I called my brother in law who also has a new HS and he confirmed that he had no issues with steaming, so the sales guy may well have been telling the truth (shocker!)

Has anybody else had an issue with steaming windows on the new HS, and if so, how did you resolve it?

Hi
I have a Dec 2025 PHEV HS and have had the same problem...also the temp set at 22° doesn't seem that warm.
On all other cars I have had, setting the air con to 'on' generally clears the glass but not on this one
Haven't really had it long enough or had enough wet days to experiment fully with settings but it doesn't seem right..
75 miles on electric..possibly if no other electrical components are switched on at all..more realistically , between 50-60 miles on full charge in my experience..particularly if trying to clear the screen and whilst ignoring the constant warnings to keep your eyes on the road..
Great car apart from these things though...😜

Mine is a company car, we have 2 of them, both with the same issues.
The misting/heating issue is driving us to despair.
It seems the air con switches off when the ICE engine does, in PHEV mode. As it flicks in and out of EV mode, the car mists up.
We’ve tried taking them off ‘auto’ and directing the air to the windscreen, temperature set at 21 degrees, air con on. It makes no real difference, however then you are subject to wildly varying temperatures too. One second it’s gently blowing 21 degrees heat on the screen, as per the settings, next minute it’s a sauna and you have to crack a window. It’s ridiculous and pretty inexcusable.
Why is t there a setting to turn the air con on permanently? I’ve never known a car like it.
The active cruise control has stopped working on both cars too, but that’s a separate issue.

I also have the same issue with misting up and like you find the only answer is to run the demist function. I reckon it’s a quirk of the car. The heat control really doesn’t regulate the temperature accurately. Annoying.
Having said that the we have had the car for 12 months now and overall are very pleased with it. The EV range is pretty much as claimed which is better than the two fully electric cars previously owned.

Try setting the temp to 19, aircon and air from the outside and run it for 5 minutes with the engine starting off before switching to EV Mode. If you use recirc air will also make it fog as its just reusing the air from inside the car. Aircon not heating will demist it, That's what I do with my 2023 mg phev. The Phev models dont have a heat pump and use the petrol engine water for heating.

Swaineman in his message above said it fixed his steaming.
