Wishbone bushes knackered @35 months and 17k

Tbh - A lot of these companies I have never even heard of, I doubt they have the same coverage area and number of recovery personal on their books as the A.A. and RAC for example.
Plus I expect the level of lifting equipment these people carry will be somewhat limited also.
Some of our relatives are under the belief that they have break down cover included FOC by their banks.
Well a few weeks ago, one of them called on their services and was disappointed to find that this cover was only roadside assistance.
This is basic cover and is very limited in what it offers.
I had the 3 year service done on our previous ZS EV at our local MG dealership, only a few months ago.
The cost was less than £70 and for this I retained the MG warranty ( for what it is worth ) the car was checked for any new software updates and had my FULL breakdown cover renewed for another 12 months.
I find hard to see that a third party garage can match this deal 🤷🏻.

Agree £70 sounds very good value with AA too.

I think all non-AA or RAC breakdown services (e.g. Green Flag / Britannia Rescue etc.) use local recovery services, rather than having their own fleet.

I think it will depend on the nature of the break down cause. If it’s just a puncture, then of course it pays to employ the services of a nearby firm.
If it gives the impression it could be a more serious issue on a EV for example, then they will probably attend themselves.

That wasn't the case when I had a catastrophic failure recently. They sent a local firm to recover me to safety (a petrol station on the A2 which to be fair had food, drinks and toilets) and then sent the same company a little later to recover me to home. They did come themselves a few days later to take the car to my dealer.

Agree, and that in itself is worth it. And knowing MG, pretty sure it would argue the toss for any warranty claims. If you've had it serviced, at a third party Garage. Also as bad as MG dealers (not all) can be, you'd like to think, they know a bit more about MG EVs, than just a general garage.
EVs are complicated machines, do you really want, Fred in his Shed messing with it. That's my take, anyway. 🙂👍
Eventually Fred in a garage will be serving these cars, I do anyway as I have discovered that the dealers are totally rubbish and their expertise isn't great either.

Agree, but probably not before the 7 year warranty runs out. As useless as it probably is. Of course any competent mechanic can do routine service stuff.
Brakes, Suspension, etc. But not sure about, the EV part of the car, the main battery, the drive motors, software etc.

It was the same with diagnostics on modern ICE vehicles, we learned or we failed as garages, garages are going to have to train up or they will be gone! Dealerships would love that, welcome to 300 squids an hour because there is no competition

Agree, independent garages will catch up, like you say they'll have to or go under. I'm really talking about 1 man garages or the mobile mechanic in a van.
Not because he's not a great mechanic.
But the stuff needed to to work on EVs, is probably beyond him/her price wise.
Which is a shame as they'd probably do a better job. 🙂👍

Cleevely service on my 3.5 year 34k miles just identified a rear wishbone bushing starting to tear. Have been quoted for two entire new wishbones. Now I’m wondering if I can be bothered trying to source some and do it myself.
