XPower Rear Discs - Outer edges slightly scored anyone ?

I've noticed both my rear discs have minor scores on them towards the outer edge. You can feel them with your finger nail.

Has anyone else noticed this ? ... is it a dealer visit required?

In comparison the front discs look fine and feel smooth.

How many miles have you covered m8?

The reason I ask is that I'm up near 5k and my rears are just like your fronts (as are my fronts)

When I'm doing my weekly brake test I really hit them very hard, hence my rears being as clean as my fronts.

So might be mileage or you might need to really throw the anchor out! ?

Thanks I’ve done around 2750 miles now. I noticed a bit of rustiness so gave it some hard braking before taking the photos. I’ll try some more hard braking ? and see how they look.

Mine are the same as yours at the rear @JonnyG despite heavy braking. Only done just over 1000 miles so hopefully they will improve, with mileage and more heavy braking!

This is a typical sight on my car. Been very much snow and ice here so the hard braking does not have that big effect as it would on the friction in the summer. This is because the braking force is too low in the back, regardless of the front/back braking bias, when lightly pressing the brake pedal. Then the pads will grab the inside of the disc, but more pressure is needed to make the pads move on the half-rusty/cruddy pins on the outside, to meet the rotor surface fully/linear. My rust will probably clear once real hard braking can be done. If the discs look like this, and no real hard braking is done over the summer, then the discs will probably be shot for good.

I am having the same problem with my xpower. Rear discs are bad, I'm driving it hard with regen braking on low and in sport mode (that seems to make it brake harder) 1700miles now the dealership is saying they should get better with more mileage, never had this with any other car iv owned! Can't say I'm very happy

Definitely more miles required before the whole of the pad touches the disc.

They will get better in time.

It's just that cosmetically they don't look great.

The brakes are very good when you really hit them hard though, and bring the car to a stop ok.

Not always the greatest of bite on first application after being parked up for a couple of days, but I find, but they improve with use.

But nearly 12000 miles in and this is one of my rears.

It appears that even bedded in, the pad doesn't cover the entire face of the rear disc.

I tend to only drive in regen 1 now as it doesn't seem to affect my mpkw too much and the discs are much cleaner

Yours definitely look better then mine, I think I'm going to continue to bed them in for another few weeks then get it booked in at my local garage to be re greased. I noticed the demo x power in my local mg dealership has the same corrosion as mine, must be a common issue with The X power

It does'nt seem to take much for them to rust over and look horrible ... a week in the cold weather or just a a day after a wash and mine look awful. I did get a chance yesterday to finally do lots of heavy braking and this has cleared up a good % of the rear discs and they did perform well. The outer edge of mine do always look bad though ... I don't think the pads fully extend to cover the outer edge. My hubs are also looking like @Bricktop X PWR's now !

Every car does. You can wash ya car, and 10 minutes later, they start rusting. That's why when I wash me car, I just go for a little spin round the block, to take any water off. And also to take off any water that's on/In the calipers. That's what I was told anyway.
