ZS-EV Software

If ZS EV owners, that are successful Tesla charger users, could spare the time , could everyone please post their versions of software installed . That may highlight something and help define if there is a specific SW issue people have problems with (or not have problems if it works ) .
thanks all for the replies so far
My 2024 SR Trophy works at Tesla using the app and is on R16 software.
So, I'm not sure that is going to help you.
edit
It's had no updates since it was registered.

When you lock your car it should lock the charge connector into place. My connector locks very quickly during the charge initiation. Wondering if that might be the problem? Try immediately locking the car after connecting.

Dealers charging for diagnostics is quite normal & you will often be reimbursed if it turns into a warranty claim. But check if you go that route.
I’ll give that a go thanks. But from memory I think I already tried that .
May I ask what exact sequence do you use to charge? We have the latest Tesla chargers nearby with the small lcd screen and long cables .

Sure, I rock up to the charger, open the app & follow the connection instructions & start the chatge. While the handshake is going on I lock the car. I hear the connector lock into place. I'm then off to get a coffee & bacon roll. When I get back (usually after 25-30mins the charge has completed.

EDIT: I've just been charging at a Tesla site & the charge connector actually locks at the start of the handshake! So locking the car isn't a requirement to locking the charge connector, it's done automatically.

My 2022 ZS Trophy recently had the Tesla ‘update/upgrade’ (and I have checked that it actually works), but I also only have the original R16 software, which I believe only relates to the infotainment anyway.

I have ‘permission’ from MG to get the infotainment software updated to the latest (R27?), but I haven’t yet got round to returning to my dealership to get this actioned.

Thanks for the update. I tried the Tesla charger again a few days ago and still no luck.
I can’t seem to find out what exactly I need to check to see if it has the correct hardware and software versions and on what modules . I have an OBD tool so I can check software versions . Dealer doesn’t know and I tried and can’t find it anywhere on the web.
Regarding the R27 update. Could you clarify if it’s free (and the dealer) as every dealer and MG UK have denied any request to have it done as part of the service , due any time now. The dealer wants to charge £200+vat (many dealers don’t want to offer a fixed price ) . I’m at the stage where I would pay, if i knew what I was getting regarding the update . But I don’t think even the dealer truly knows what they are doing or what improvements it gives .

Yes tried it again a few days ago and still the same. Plug in, connector locks, swipe to start charging on the app and it just waits and waits and after a short while it just unlocks again. Paying by card is the same , it says payment accepted , shows charging numbers but no power is passed .

The email I had from MG seems to suggest that updates should be done as part of a service, so I am not expecting to pay. However, as my car was serviced in November, and did not receive the infotainment update despite my request, I’m not confident of getting it done until the next service. But I’m going to try! I have printed out MG’s email as it states my software version is ‘older’ and that the dealership can ‘raise a technical case’ with MG’s technical team. That seems to be an authorisation that their costs would be covered.

You definitely should tell the dealership that you are experiencing issues with the infotainment to strengthen the case for getting it done.

As for the Tesla update/upgrade, I think it’s the CCU that’s involved, but I have no idea about software versions.

Good luck!

Dealers don't actually know what updates there are for your car. They won't know until you get hooked up to the MG server. You need R27 then the dealer & car will 'see' new updates that can be loaded. There are rarely any bulletins telling dealers to carry out updates unless it's a safety issue. I was not charged for my R27 update as mine was a warranty fix for a problematic Telematics issues. Be aware, some updates are chargeable if it's not a safety issue.

Hi. Could you post the letter from the MG technical team? I'm going to my dealer in February and want to show it to them, as I still have the R16 version. Thank you.

@aleks57
You would need to get in contact with MG customer service and explain the issues that you are having with your infotainment. They can then issue an email in your name, to authorise your dealership to carry out the update.
