MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

The dealers could have cancelled their stock orders when they were asked to in March and then people like yourself would have had delivery of your car by now.
In a perfect, sensible World, I would agree with you. In SAIC’s World , not a chance. Completely hatstand that company. If it were not for the price point, we would never have been in this situation, as SAIC would never have got off the ground (Well maybe they would when they are state sponsored).

I get what they are trying to do, and so far it is working, but when other, more established vehicle manufactures start waking up and produce cars in direct competition to SAIC’s price point, I think it will be a whole different scenario.

In any event, will be interesting finding out 😁

It is unlikely that MG would have been able to sell their BEVs if they were compatible in price to the mainstream manufacturers. The low price has drawn buyers in (I would include myself in that).

In the same way, it is unlikely that mainstream manufacturers will come down and compete on price with MG for a few years to come yet.

There is a shortage of BEVs around the world. “If we build it, someone will buy it”. It makes no sense to make a low cost BEV if your name has a following and you have buyers. Tesla is a fine example with the $35,000 Model 3. This pretty much never happened and they can sell as many tm3 as they can build at very inflated prices.

There are long waiting lists for just about any BEV from any manufacturer at any price offered.

Miles said something which has been playing on my mind ever since. The new MG4 will be the oldest vehicle in the MG range come 2025.

From that I think that the ZS and the MG5, together with the HS, will be very shortly finished.

I reckon they will eventually complete the existing orders (sunroof on the ZS being a concentration, once they are achieved, very few new ZS being produced).

Let’s face it. seemingly no appetite to ramp up the previous sales orders for current customers is There?

a significant amount (even I am contemplating it) are now thinking of switching their ZS orders for MG4….I think this could be the master plan. I am sure no one believes the delay on the ZS is down to bloody micro chip Shortage anymore. Makes absolutley no sense when they can flood the market with a sh*t-load of brand new EV purpose built MG4s’

so, with 7 brand new MG vehicles in play during 2025, the oldest one being a MG 4, would be interested to know your thoughts.
My order was placed Dec 21 and still hadn't arrived as of last week. In May I went to the Niro EV experience and was very impressed at its tech and modern look. Placed an order on 27th May for Aug delivery will be picking it up next week and cancelled my MG order. If my MG had arrived in early 2022 I would have been more than happy. Seeing the new models coming out albeit they are more money I understand people jumping ship after 9 month waits with no delivery date scheduled.

In order to compete, the other manufacturers have to set up production lines in China to take advantage of cheap labour / costs. More and more manufacturers are already doing it.
Even with 27.5% import duty in USA it is cheaper to manufacture and import from China.

By the time I get my car there will be no such thing as cheap electricity.
Ordered last Dec 21......still no sign of a delivery date.
MG couldn't run a p**s up in a brewery.
I feel sorry for the dealers.......how can they keep a business going with nothing to sell.
In the same boat ( or maybe not on a boat at all ) we ordered in December 21 ZSEV Trophy LR, this situation is getting ridiculous.

Yes, BMW iX3 built in China - a £60,000 + car. Far from alone.

Spoke to dealer yesterday, ordered January 6th, car hasn't left China yet but he still hopes for mid September arrival
This is the date we ordered ours too. Had an email last Monday to say due to dealer 29/09/22 and then to us a week or so later. We ordered a LRTC in Red so there’s hope for yours yet

I think anything from Hyundai/Kia is fresher, more up to date, that's always been the case, even last year when the facelift ZS was available to order.

Most people are ordering because it's the cheapest way to own this sort of EV.

I'd have much rather had another Ioniq 38kwh to be honest, but the deals weren't around this time around.

I had the Ioniq 38kWh. Nice car, but range and speed of charging were the reasons it was moved on.

Sure, there's better out there now. It isn't that far away from the SR ZS in reality though. Only about 10 extra miles of range on the ZS and with the larger battery the time to get to 80% isn't that far off either.

Spoke to dealer a couple of days ago - the "end of August/ start of September" delivery is now an "end of September/ start of October" estimate with no actual date given. Ordered 15th January. LR Trophy in red. Filling up with dino juice is getting irksome.

By the time you get yours, filling up with Electric will be as expensive as fossil fuels :-(

When I spoke to my dealer, he said SR ZS we’re starting to turn up, so it seems the problem is the LR ZS, maybe its the dreaded chip that’s the problem, is this one of the reasons MG has done away with the sunroof? Will it turn up later as a op extra? Did say to him I think it’s mistake by them and he agreed, had a look on line at the Nero EV, really don’t like the front of it, but that’s me, there are things I don’t like about the ZS…I wish it had cubby holes in it, why have they put a handbrake and a park?…will I ever use the handbrake, probably not and then you have a little hole and a blanked off one? they could have done away with it and you could have put the key in there, I guess like all of us, your going to have the house key and maybe a garage key on the chain as well, could I throw them where the phone charger is? If I want to charge the phone, I’d need to take it out of the case and then I have keys rolling about on the glass, maybe the cup holders again, don’t like the bin in the middle, if I drop my sunglasses in there, could I get them back out as I drive along? Guess I could put them where the cup holders are, coins where do I put them? In the cup holders again? There be so much in the cup holders, if I ever did buy a Costa coffee, I’d have no where to put it..

Mine is the exact same LRTC in Red but ordered 24th Jan. Hopefully MG did a massive batch of these and mine is on the same boat. Haven't heard a thing from my dealer :-(

Are people on this thread also updating the Order Tracker thread?

While I know this forum is only a small number of real world orders it’s still nice to see % grow and get a feel for the models coming through.
