MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Just seen on Facebook someone has posted there are 5 to 600 MG4 landing at Portbury on the 10th Sept can anyone confirm this !!

Ok, so update for ships arriving to UK.

I have a watch on Shanghai and see where they go. Get excited if they head towards Suez. Once they come out of Suez see where they head.

Also keep an eye on Portbury arrivals and watch these ships to see if they go near to Shanghai. Have been watching 3 that were in Japan and are now heading towards Shanghai.

Shanghai Port is a bit complex. Shanghai covers the main area called Gaodong which has big multi-storey car parks for car storage and is the dock of choice used by previous MG ZS deliveries. There is also a dock around the corner called Nicheng. This has a number of ships dock, but usually internal transfers within China. Low risk of MG cars here.
Not covered by Shanghai dock, but only a few kilometres upstream is another dock which is getting increased use is called Tiacang. Don’t know if MG has started using this dock but Sunrise Ace docked there a couple of weeks ago and is due in Portbury in three weeks.

Have attached an updated list of ships and have included the amount of time each ship spent loading in Shanghai to give an indication of the possibility of cars being loaded.

And here was me hoping that the Iberian peninsula would be favoured due to trying to have a few cars on the road for people to see. Hey ho! I was told 3-6 months in March. I'm now expecting December/January and your experience in Spain suggests that's likely fair.

Anyone have an idea where the cars are delivered for Spain/Portugal - is it Zeebrugge for the whole of Europe, or is that just Northern Europe?

It's interesting how the grants work in different countries. In Portugal you claim the money back after you've bought the car, but they limit the number of people who can claim. This year it was a €4k grant for 350 people (up from the previous €3k the year before). That was used up in 3 months, though, and now it is oversubscribed by around €2m! So if your decision was based on the expectation of getting the grant you've had it! It de-risks the grant process for the government but means that only people who can risk not receiving the grant ('rich' people) can get it! Having said that, we'll probably get the car next year, so we might qualify for the next grant, if there is one.

It will arrive when it arrives, as many are saying. In the meantime our solar panels are giving away loads of free electricity - how nice are we!? 🙄
In Spain:
The aid of the MOVES III Plan is available from April 10, 2021, which will last for the years 2022 and 2023. This aid plan for the purchase of electrified vehicles has an initial budget of 400 million euros, expandable up to 800 million if required by demand.

We are waiting for the definitive data for this MOVES 3, but we already know some specific details. For individuals, the highest aid will be up to 7,000 euros whenever a car is delivered for scrapping that is more than seven years old.

As a novelty compared to the previous MOVES in this edition, an additional 10% will be granted in aid to those registered in municipalities with a population of less than 5,000 inhabitants, people with disabilities due to reduced mobility or professional use for taxi or VTC.

Undoubtedly, with these delays, it is more than likely that the amount of aid will run out and we will have to wait for the next state budget, in case they take it out

Hi All, Not sure if this helps anyone, Black Trophy Long Range, Ordered Jan 2022, email from dealer 3 days ago is that car is currently at Sea, due to dealer end of September. They didn't say when the status changed from in build to at sea... Fingers crossed it arrives, posting to give fellow Black Trophy orders a little hope that they may be en route!

Wonder what spin it will be with the next update.

Wiring loom is old news- by now they have alternative suppliers. They must have to allow them to deliver all those stock cars to the people who ordered after us.

Is the wiring loom going to arrive for your car this week, or have the wiring loom suppliers been told to make the ones for the MG4 & MG5 instead?

If the wiring loom does not arrive this week then it is more likely that the car will slip to December and then next year.
It's not a case of a wiring loom 'arriving' for my specific car in any week. It's just a general reason. They have no idea when specific cars are being built. They are passing on second hand information. By now it's likely out of date anyway.

Who knows, basically.

I'm expecting more excuses in the months to complete come...

Any else had a call from the dealer saying MG are changing the interest rate on a Santander agreement from last November for my ZS. they are putting it up by 1%, Going in tomorrow for a chat to see why. Due to pick car up next Friday 9th, it is at the dealers now but they are making me wait till the 9th. will be registered as a 72 plate though.
Can they do that? Surely if you placed your order at a set interest rate then they have to honour it? Not your fault it has taken longer than estimated at the time of the order.

Our Red LRTC ordered 6th Jan is due to land with dealer on 30/09 so assume that is at sea also. Coming through now 🤞

If it's any help, when I ordered my se lr on 8/12/21 the interest rate was 4.9%

Hi I hope this is useful to you, when I ordered my zs se lr on 8 /12/21 the interest rate was 4.9% and when I picked up the car on 10/8/22 as you know the rate was 5.9%. My dealer (mg carlisle) not only honoured the lower rate but also the original price, original grant (£2500),also the value of my car stayed roughly the same and the settlement figure on my 21 plate seat went down so my pcp monthly figure dropped by between £5-10 p.m. So it was a big win for me. Hope this is some help if your dealer tries to charge you more.

All they have to do is produce 2500 MG ZS a month to clear the backlog of orders before the end of 2024. If they open the order book for the non sunroof models then it will be a few more a month.
At the current rate they will not clear the orders taken before Xmas (I am assuming that they are still sending through all the November stock orders to the chosen dealers)

Spoke to my dealer - still has no idea who the new dealer will be - reckon will save them the bother and cancel it.
Who is your new dealer over there?

No more excuses required for me - the last straw for me was that they have released the ZS is to be replaced and to be delivered by the end of 2024.
The backlog of cars on the order book in my opinion is not achievable before the next generation will require the production line to be changed for the new model.
It is not just the UK but worldwide where the delivery times are being pushed away with nothing from SAIC on how they are going to supply over 2500 units per month, and that’s just to the UK if no more ZS EV orders are placed. Just imagine how many ZS EV’s need to be made per month to satisfy the demand from the world. I have been monitoring Ships over the last month to give some indication of supply. Australia have had more ships deliver than the UK. South America have had more ships. UAE / Dubai / Saudi Arabia have had 4 ships in the last 3 weeks.

It has to be only a matter of time before MG advise that they are cancelling orders because they have no ability to meet the demand before the new model needs to be put into production.

My dealer has been great, no made up stories and pathetic made up excuses, just the straight we have no information and until we are told the car is at sea we cannot predict when the car will arrive.

The economics of running an EV have recently changed. With grants being removed and electricity costs spiralling, the costs of running an EV without having a wind farm and/or a Solar system ( that will take years to payback ) is beyond the cost of running an ICE car.

So do I sit and wait while the chosen dealers get the stock cars they demand and all I get is TBA. Then watch the stock cars being handed out to new customers who were not even on the extensive current order book?

Have so far waited 8 months for a car that was originally promised in 4 months. I know that the car is currently showing TBA so add a minimum of 3 months to when I could at the earliest possibly see a car. However, a local dealer that I spoke to advised that they are only just getting information that cars are at sea for three orders that were placed on 1st November last year so I can easily add another 2 months till they get to possibly supplying January orders.

Had a long discussion with my wife tonight about what we should do.

Decision made - I will speak to the dealer in the morning - One Long Range Trophy in Blue ordered 6th Jan will be cancelled.

Arghh.. my dealer phoned me to say I can collect my car 6th or 7th November.
However MG UK tells me it's still on shortage.
Dont know who to believe.
Time to pay the dealer a visit and show me the status on the car.
I replied to MG UK telling then I dont know who to believe, my dealer who says that the car will arrive on the 7th November or MG UK who says it's still on shortage.

I get a reply back now all of a sudden saying that my car is 'On Future Shipment'.

Anyone know what it means?

Who is your new dealer over there?
Today is the last day that Westridge is my MG Dealer. As of 1st September the Franchise for Westridge to supply MG will cease. Tonight all open Westridge orders will pass back to MG UK including mine. Westridge do not know who the new supplier will be. Wrote to MG and they advised that a new dealer will contact me at some point.
Hence today is my last chance to cancel the order with Westridge. Tomorrow I would be in limbo as Westridge account is closed and nobody has a clue who to contact to discuss. It could be a dealer 100’s of miles away. I spoke to Premier MG who are on the Island and they advised that they know about the Westridge franchise but do not believe that they will be the new supplier, therefore the new supplier would definitely not be on the Isle of Wight.
I have known that the franchise is being removed for a few weeks and MG have left it to the last minute to sort out the mess they have created.

Another reason why I am cancelling today.
