MG4 Reviews from various online publications

My wife's car a Suzuki Swift, has plent of headroom and pretty decent leg room yet is 3.8m in length. Room in the back is good too. Yet others a metre longer can't achieve the same.
We've got the same car and interior space is really good, although the boot is pathetic, despite looking ok in terms of litres. Can't get a week's shopping in there, although I could in my 595, despite that technically having a smaller boot. In fairness, couldn't get my teenage son in the back of the 595 without complaint, so depends on your priority 😁

One of the reasons I've not placed an order for an MG4 yet is I want to actually try it. Any car is an expensive purchase to make unseen

It's fairly small boot I grant you but you must buy a lot of stuff 😆. We can get in a push chair, but only just. There is space for some bags too.

I put a refundable deposit down on an MG4 but will have to test drive before purchase, just don't want to wait months if it is good.

Wise move !.
Get in quick with a totally refundable deposit to secure a place on the list, then wait for the demo model to arrive.
Test drive, if you like it you are one step ahead of the pack.
If you don’t, ask for your deposit back !.
No brainier really.

There is a difference in what options you can choose for the left custom button on the steering wheel in the SE and Trophy.

This is an important difference as, on the SE you cannot assign the left sided custom button on the steering wheel for regeneration or drive modes.

That is a great spot Gem…. Thank you

Are we sure the cars are all on the same software level?

It's quite possible that the cars for the media launch have different software levels - we'll only know once we get our hands on them!
Good point Sir, however, I think you answered your own question there.

As ever, Jonny Smith gives a genuinely useful and insightful review.
Extra snippets of information, and greater clarity in a few areas.
It helps a lot that it's delivered in such a matter-of-fact way and Jonny just tells it as it is.

I feel more positive now, and am looking forward to actually getting to drive the car myself sometime later this month once the demo cars hit the dealers.

That is very disappointing to me.
Les.
There may still be a way around to access the regeneration and drive modes from the steering wheel.

We do not know what the "Quick Menu one touch" option on the SE does. Perhaps it opens both regeneration and drive mode selectors. That way it would be better than the Trophy where you can only select regeneration or drive mode.

Hopefully someone on the forum can test this out on the demonstrators and let us all know.

I have Just watched the Jonny Smith review on the MG4 SELR, and he Jonny has shown to us and told us more in about 30 minutes than all the other reviewers put together up to now so well done Jonny.

Some of it I did like and some I didn’t so what didn’t you like I hear you all cry,
So today there as been quite a few post floating around about the drive modes and Regen settings or rather how you can set them. It has been said today that the star buttons on the steering wheel can’t be set to do this function on the SE spec only the Trophy can.

Now I’m not keen on idea of having to use menus in the screen while driving to change these settings, you see I use the toddle switches in my 5 all the time not so much the mode setting but the regen constantly, and by reading the road up ahead as much as possible and using the regeneration in the correct way by doing this I get good mileage and hardly ever need to use the brakes well maybe the last few yards when coming to a halt after 15000 plus miles there is no sign of an wear on the brake disc or pads.
Another spin off from this is how clean the wheels stay why no brake dust to speak of.
I won’t be using the 4 very much it will be my wife’s car that’s if she likes what she sees in the test drive, but I known she not impressed with have no rear wiper and when Jonny Smith said there is no grab handles in the rear she said how do you hang anything up then, I think referring to coat hangers when she has taken items to the laundry from time to time for cleaning or if we go away in it.
Not over impressed with them what look like plastic bits at the bottom of the doors but like a Renault Clio I think, what’s them for she asks, does not want the trophy model thinks it a boy racer car, so still got a bit of work to do yet to get her over the line so to speak, but yeh the Jonny Smith review was good best yet for me.

Agreed, except I still have a vision of my grandmother’s old clock, ticking away!

Did anyone noticed the price he displayed
SE £26690 ? It’s £1000 more expensive?

I thought £26690 was just a mistake, but the SE with red paint is extra and sure enough he was spot on. Jonny really is in a different league reviewing cars.
