MG4 First EV & Advice

As you can see from my picture my ZS EV is red, I am presuming that it is the same red for the MG4, and it looks great even when dirty!

However, I have a Holborn blue Trophy on order as I fancied a change.
Salesman said it is the same. The tri-coat paint means it looks different depending on the lighting conditions.

I haven't found the right lighting for me to like the orange yet :) it does explain why some pics online show it as more of a bronze colour, while others show it as neon orange. showroom light was the latter for me.

Collection today for me too. Admiral could quote but couldn't arrange it without it being registered so looks like I'll be doing it from the showroom.

Pick up mines today

I'm also picking up my red Trophy today

Friendly reminder to my Post here: Rapid charging an MG4

Please please please - if it doesn't come fully charged or you get an opportunity to use some of it, please record a video, take some pictures, or at least share some experiences with a rapid / hypercharger (120kW+) and how much power the MG4 pulls at which State of Charge / how long it overall takes to charge to 80 and 100%.

Personally, charging speed (and range) are my top 2 reasons for ordering this car...

And I still believe

The official data seems off.

Between "135kW Peak" and "74kW avg. between 10 and 80%" the curve appears too steep to me.

Thanks a lot and have fun with your new car! :)

Finally Picked up this SE SR today - amazing handover from the dealer! Currently trying out some charging - I can confirm it’s hella fun! Good luck to you all on collection day - I certainly will keep you all up to date on my journey!

That SHOULD be the next incarnation of the ‘Knight Rider’ !!! Good luck keeping it like that, but if you do, I agree with @RichardC …..Stunning!

Thank you so much everyone! Just completed a quick charge to check it all worked okay and no problems at all. Does anyone recommend any general seat covers & car accessories? The car is so new you can’t quite get bespoke MG matts yet (and I don’t fancy paying £99 for what seems a lottery of available ones !) I’m also thinking of ceramic coating… how much typically would you expect to pay for this & or advantages / disadvantages over wrapping?

I bough a universal set of car mats from Lidl as a temporary measure and they fit (ish)
I have also explored ceramic coating, the link might give you some idea, the company is local to me but I think it’s a nationwide franchide.

I do feel like it’s a mini Batmobile! Honestly it’s super spacey and amazing! I will say that my only minor gripe would be maybe the seats could have been offered in a lighter two tone to contrast the very black lining of the roof.

I do feel like it’s a mini Batmobile! Honestly it’s super spacey and amazing! I will say that the only downside is the full black interior including the seats - could have done with a lighter two tone grey or something to offset the darkness of the cabin. So guys to summarise - should I be going to 100% SOC when doing long trips only and then from 10/20% to 90% in between for my LFP battery? Or is it a simple case of 20-80% regardless of the tech with 100% only for longer journeys. 90% greatly increases the benefit of the regen braking & 10% enough to get back to a charge station. Is this the best option for LFP state of health - I will only be using faster DC charging when doing long trips which is very few far and between.

Yes. No point in 100% in my opinion unless you are going to use it. With the cars range I will probably sit at 80 - 90% max most of the time. Down to individual owners at the end of the day....

20-80% unless you need the range in all cases ideally but don't let it impact your life, just treat it as a tool. After 10 years you're only talking about a few percent difference in degradation either way.

I think with LFP batteries, you are generally supposed to charge them to 100% to preserve them - although I personally wouldn’t leave it for days at 100% not being used. That’s why with my Mg Zs SR they greyed out the ability to automatically stop at 80% on the touchscreen - it’s there for the long range only.
I haven’t charged the mg4 yet so haven’t explored the charging menu yet, but as others have said don’t get too hung up about it.
