Dealers with allocation and what specs etc.

Me. It was supposed to be a Trophy. But I think they had another customer lined up after I rejected it.

Starting to cool on the car in general now. £32k is still a lot of money and I'm now considering 2nd hand ice again (enough for my needs).
You will know your budget better than anyone, and you will do what is right for you.

What I will say however, is the car is magic!

I have some niggles, but the pure joy of driving it, is almost overwhelming.

And to have that power and acceleration, not to mention handling, is fantastic value for money, in my opinion.

Well I finally got to see one in person today! My dealer, after the dock delays/issues, had got their demo and showroom MG4s in. No test drives possible yet, as they hadn't had the cars long enough to prep them. I had a good look round a white Trophy and was very impressed. White wasn't one of our considered colours, but it is now, the MG4 looks great in it, especially with the white/black contrast. Our order is for a grey, which I think is still my favourite (if one comes in). Our dealer is still saying 8 to 16 weeks for delivery. I mentioned that my order was in 6 weeks ago, and said "is it 8 to 16 weeks from now, or from then?". They thought from then, the time of order, but that seems unlikely unless there's more ships on the way.

Looking at the SAIC car carriers none seem to be heading our way at the moment although I am keeping an eye on one that is currently near a port in China.

Hi. Sorry for a silly question. Is your dealer located in Chelmsford - Glyn Hopkin?

Yes, I was told a similar info i.e. a turmoil at the port with boats arriving and MG trying to filter through the allocated cars.

The dealer told me the reason for the turmoil at the port, which sounded crazy! I won't repeat it here, in case its not supposed to be common knowledge.

Share what you heard, I’m sure people will be interested in what they told you…..

Ok - many of the cars on the ship were put on the ship in the on state, with the keys actually left in the car. What happens then is that the car doesn't turn off (it needs the key to leave the car, or someone to power it down on the console, for it to turn off), so 2 weeks or so later the ship arrives, and many of the cars 12v batteries are now dead, and many need replacing as you're not meant to leave 12v batteries in a flat state for a long time. Logistical nightmare I would imagine, as each car would need the battery charged/tested/replaced!

I had a test drive on Saturday with MG dealership in Gravesend Kent, They have 1 black and 1 white SE to drive away not currently allocated to anyone.

Given that you are not supposed to tow or push these cars, unloading will be a nightmare. At least it shows the Chinese State does not have the ability to remotely control all MG4s or they would flip the Off Switch for all vehicles currently en route. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

That would only work if the cars aren't already dead, and therefore not... taking requests. :sneaky:

Thanks. You were lucky with your dealer then, I don’t think many would share that information. Hope you enjoy the car.
I asked them for some sort of evidence that they had one coming before I parted with a deposit! Didn't want to wait 6 months...
