I think I’m jinxed after needing to reject my 3 day old Kona in January. That was a clear cut traction motor failure though.

On that note……hope no one needs to rely on the AA. Myself, wife and dog stuck on a busy road for over 4 hours at night in freezing conditions.
I blame your music choice 😉
 
Mine is at Leicester MG at the moment for the oil leaky problem, they have now kept it and ordered new parts!
New breather tube on order ( 3 weeks).
I’ll take that with a pinch of salt.
Why does a brand new car need new parts anyway?

If everyone who has a MG4 has to wait 3 weeks for new parts, the hire car bill will be horrendous for MG, bet I can’t get them to foot the bill for all the petrol too.

Seriously considering dumping it with them, and buying a tried and tested ICE car.
Life’s too short for all this crap!
So I wonder if that's what MG China's research has shown that they have to do, or if Leicester MG is acting on their own examination.
 
True.
However, you might as well still get the charger fitted, as if you're not planning on moving home in the medium future, given you may be de facto forced into buying a transportation pod eventually, so the charger will be needed....unless of course transportation pods go pear shaped, ala like diesels and the 'wonder fuel' they were supposed to be and how incentivised they were by Gov'ts.

My car has just come back from road test. Spoke to master tech again. He confirmed that dry fill from new was 0.9l and service fill would be 0.85l he said due to residue. he told me they put 0.75l in mine and it is leaking after road test today. He is advising it not be driven and to wait for the update in 2 to 4 days.

What I’m still a little bemused about is why the previous fix of dropping the oil level only works in some cars, are the gear boxes/motors different on the SE SR and the Trophy ? Or SR & LR ?
Do we believe that the problems really were fixed by reducing the fill level? The cynic in me thinks these owners may well be back with oil leak or other problems Related to this and the “fix”. Perhaps dropping the oil level has given temporary relief for some but it seems like an odd “fix”. The explanations also don’t make sense there are too many inconsistencies here, different oil levels for different countries (give me a break), “no impact on driving“ - my dealer laughed out loud on that one.

Exactly, I’m trying to get in touch with the technician.. I don’t want to wait 3 weeks for the same part!
I might tell them to keep their faulty car, give me my money back( paid in full!) and my Audi I traded in, and put a deposit on the next available car.

We own a fixed one too and so far there’s no sign of oil after almost a week of driving (and believe me we check it daily), the other was leaking again pretty much as soon as I got it home from the dealers after the oil was reduced.

You call out the alleged negative tone of my prior posts, via a maiden-to-me post suggesting that I enrolled upon the forum as a 'wind up'? lol now there's positivity for you, huh :)

Next, consider the then 7 prior posts which I constructed:
1) An agreement with another poster ref youtube videos
2) A positive remark to a fellow poster regarding his/her decision
3) A comment that the atmosphere of the forum has changed over the last two months. Factual? It certainly don't seem the party of optimism it once was.
4) Another positive comment to the prior poster regarding their decision
5) A joke ref a podcast. Granted that could be misinterpreted.
6) A comment on the general reliability of Toyotas
7) A post suggesting a poster continues to go ahead with having a changer installed.

Maybe try researching and analysing one's posts before commenting on them.

It is best if we generically return to discussing the thread topic on hand.

Just to be clear, I very much do wish to own and drive an MG4, as I have said, I enjoyed the test drive and placed the deposit, no qualms in that regard, it made financial sense, I even have access to a salary sacrifice scheme, at work but the MG4, direct with my local MG dealer works out cheaper. This when combined with the feature packed Trophy model, a sporty drive and looks (especially in white - you don't mind me expressing that opinion do you Harry?) made that order placement easy.

Just wondering why you seem to think it odd that people post on a forum about a vehicle they are yet to take delivery of ? Well, I joined the forum to see what other people's experiences with the car are, so I could draw comparisons with perhaps what my own potential ownership experience, having to wait 16 weeks for my own to be built is a long time to be ignorant of other people's experiences.

I must admit, I find your post quite bewildering and passive aggressive (smiley face not withstanding) Whilst I am looking to be open to the experiences of others, I will, if possible, offer any input I have garnered from other sources, after all, that is the purpose of this forum, perhaps you are familiar with this concept?
Having said all that, I am not wanting to be part of a owner / driver experiment in snag listing, I think even for a "new platform" that is too much burden to expect a paying customer to own.

Oh and Harry, we already have an ID.3, the MG4 would be a replacement for our Petrol second car and the only issues we have had with the VW ID.3 has been the odd software brain fart, which will hopefully now be sorted with the replacement SOS module, the 12v battery replacement and the latest software patch, (done under a recall / warranty) so I am quite familiar with issues relating to new to market and "not quite ready" brand new platforms and EV's.

The difference I am evaluating here is more around mechanical robustness, with motor sealing / coolant leakage, which I am sure you can see; presents a more significant risk / issue /concern (choose which word your most comfortable with here Harry) when compared to a software issue.

As for your comment regarding "a small amount of issues", whilst being cognisant of the modern landscape of social media where people are maybe more inclined to report a negative than sing about a positive, we are all experiencing life under a magnifying lens, there does seems to be a growing list of teething Troubles / Bugs / Concerns (again, choose the word you are most comfortable with Harry) for MG to iron out here, I don't think there is an exhaustive list yet,(maybe the beginnings of one in the things to look for on car pick up day) but some of them are niggles, whilst some of them present clear and present danger to the end user, the most worrying which falls into this category being the sudden loss of power - limp mode error?.

So Harry, there you have it, my thoughts for the whole forum to read. I do hope you approve of my choice of words, perhaps you can review whilst reminiscing of the glory days of the British car industry, perhaps one day, you will once again bask in the immense feeling of pride in the MG badge, or hark back to that pale yellow "All-Aggro" (Austin Allegro) which dissolved before your very eyes, who knows (smiley face)

I thought at the time of posting that I was being a little choice in my thoughts, but I am not on here to be a wind up merchant.

I understand that many have a real worry over the oil leak issue, and I have said this. Whilst I feel this problem will be sorted on a near brand new car, that is my take and I should not overly impart that view onto others.

And yes! Had an All-Aggro (actually wrote it off on a bend in Armthorpe (near Doncaster) one day after passing my driving test. I do not revel in the glory days of the British Motoring industry. In fact I had a Triumph Dolomite Sprint in 1986 which blew the engine up after three weeks due the timing chain going bananas.

Finally, I apologise (for all the forum to see) to you Ade, as I do not wish to be a WUM, I will still post my thoughts on this subject, as per what affects me, and my particular experiences with this new car, for all to see my view.

I am not an MG Fanboy, you just got to see my thoughts on the MG TF to see that (actually think I upset someone on that thread as well).

Nice first maiden communication. Positive in the choice of words and connotations- 'lurking' :rolleyes: together with a spurious suggestion of being on the board prior.
But to address the question buried beneath the jumble, I would say approximately since the MG4 started to become news- a few months ago.
 
Lurking is an Internet term for someone who peruses a forum/message board without registering/joining said website. It has no negative connotations whatsoever. And you've confirmed that you have indeed been lurking - "I would say approximately since the MG4 started to become news- a few months ago"

I'm now out replying to you - I'll save my responses for people with positive intentions. (This doesn't mean positive posts re. the MG4 - it means constructive posts even if they're not positive re. the MG4. I do not categorise your posts in this board as constructive).
