New MG4 Shipment?

Hi all, Had a call from my dealership yesterday, my car has arrived at the showrooms. I will be able to collect next week (all being well with the PDI inspection).
He was completely open re the oil leak and raised this with me rather than me needing to ask, given the option of taking the car next week or waiting for the new breather (some rumors are the new part may be here next week, we shall see).
I ordered Orange Trophy 30 Sept, the dealer gave an expected delivery timescale of 12 weeks, in mid-Oct he said that all being well, as it was Orange, it may be more like 8-10 weeks.
When I chased a few weeks ago he wasn't willing to do much else than quote mid late Nov as was originally quoted (I believe to manage expectations), though I suspect he may have been aware of allocations.
I've been a little bit frustrated I didn't get updates at various stages as some seem to know when the car is on the boat etc. In hindsight, I can't complain about the info I have had though even though it's vague it seems to have been accurate. I guess the dealer had a difficult balance between giving step-by-step updates, then having an unexpected delay as some seem to have had.
🤞 for next week now.

EDIT: didnt mention my experience waiting for an ID.3, I ordered in Oct 21, expected delivery Mar 22, not so bad I thought. Updated in Feb (4 weeks from due date) back to May, updated in April back to Aug, update in May back to Nov, update in Jun back to 31st Dec, updated in August back to Jun 23. Along comes the MG4 open for orders, so I won't be able to tell you the experience of owning the ID.3. In comparison at this stage, my MG experience is superior, though comms could be better agreed.

just did a quick search on portbury's arrivals page and worked out some ships of interest (if you are interested that is)
With the Stena Ebba picking up some MG's in Yantai I thought id include all ships that have had a port stop in China in the hope that MG will use the first available transports.

MORNING LILY - Wed 9 Nov - (Shanghai, Korea , Tarragona , Portbury)
STENA EBBA - 14 November (Yantai, Singapore, Portbury)
OLYMPIAN HIGHWAY - Thur 17 Nov (Japan, Shanghai, Taiwan, Singapore)
TOMBARRA - Thu 17 Nov (Japan, Korea, Lianyungang, Singapore, Portbury)
ONYX ACE - Sat 19 Nov (Japan, Shanghai, Singapore, Amsterdam, Portbury)
HEROIC ACE - Sat 19 Nov (Tianjin, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Zeebrugge)
BOSPORUS HIGHWAY - Fri 9 Dec (Luiheng, Japan, Liverno, Portbury)
IGUAZU HIGHWAY - Mon 19 Dec (Luiheng, Japan, Liverno, Portbury)
MORNING LADY - Fri 23 Dec (Mcid, Huangpu....)
Excellent information. I have the Portbury arrival page bookmarked. How did you find the information regarding the ports of call? I use a tracking website but it has limited information unless I want to pay for it.

As said on the podcast the other night, MG aren't fulfilling customer orders as yet, they are just randomly allocating cars to dealers. You can land lucky if that matches your order. He stated Chorley group had 80 odd pre orders, most haven't been delivered yet.
He did also say come January they are starting to manufacture and deliver to dealers specific order books.
Could hypothetically be March before some people see their car!! Unless like he said the random MG allocation matches a dealers order

I just went through the portbury docks arrivals and used vesselfinder.com to see where the ships have docked and compiled the list from there. vesselfinder seems to show the last 5 ports which gives a good indication

Luckily, I still have 18 months or so left on my Zoe's PCP.

Thanks for that. I use VesselFinder and I have just found the page that you refer to.

It would be so much better if MG implemented a simple tracking system so we can all get information on when our car has been made, where it is and which ship it is on etc... this really isn't rocket science compared to making the car!
Agreed. It appears that MG Europe and MG UK allocate randomly and don't provide the dealers with any information until they are at least on the ship and perhaps even just before reaching port

Well picked up my grey Trophy from Chorley mg today drove home 210 miles not the best weather all motorways kept round the 60s managed got home with 10% battery left very happy never had to stop and charge 😀
Brilliant news. Did you check for the under tray bulge?

Hi everyone.
I ordered my MG4 Trophy Long Range Volcano Orange on 02/08/2022.
I have been for a test drive and sorted out the finance, even been allocated a VIN and VRM.
I was told the car would be at MG Chorley, Chorley for the beginning of November.
I've spoken to them several times, and they advised this morning that to compound the already messy rolling out of the cars and the allocation based on who knows what the car transporters are now blaming strikes at ports for the delays in getting cars to dealerships.
Apparently MG Chorley are awaiting two trucks that should have arrived Monday and Thursday last week.

I think my car is (literally) in the same boat as yours. I have the VIN. When did you get the Reg. No. ? I always thought that wasn't done till at the dealers, and previous times I've done it the dealer has given me a choice between a few numbers that the dealer had available.

7th October, it was sent in a table within the email I got with an update. Included the VRM and the VIN.

If there is an allocated VRM, has it been taxed and have you been nominated as the registered keeper? (There could be all sorts of hurt in the pipeline if you're the RK yet you don't even have the car).

Just for those that may not know:

VIN = vehicle identification number, the unique manufacturing number for the car (in the old days ‘chassis number’).

VRM = vehicle registration mark, better known as the registration number that goes on your number plate.

RK = registered keeper, the person designated as the main ‘keeper’ of the car (not necessarily the owner, who might be a finance company). This is who is contacted first in case of a speeding ticket or other police/insurance matter.
