I was just watching a video on YouTube with a walk around of the MG ZS EV in Pakistan and something caught my eye. They're selling the car with a simple shark fin aerial rather than the long (IMO) old fashioned one which is sold in Europe.
Isn't that weird?

Below is a screen-grab from the video

Yes. I noticed that too. The sharks fin seems to be more widely used now across all makes. Maybe cheaper for the antenna?

To be honest, I haven't seen a modern car with a "sticky-uppy" aerial in at least 10 years. My 11yo Honda Accord doesn't even have a visible antenna at all.

I may be wrong, but I didn't think the roof aerial was for DAB.
There was something about DAB and shark fins on my Evoques, first one only had one fin then later they had two and was told "one" was for DAB.

No flags - too much drag - affects range...

I picked my ZS EV up today & found out the aerial is too tall to go into the garage 😩 I've jerry rigged up a long elastic band from the rear wiper arm to the aerial to bend it down. :D

No aerial at all on the MG 5.... It has sat nav and DAB so no idea how that works

Get one of these, doesn't make any difference to signal and looks a lot better.

Brilliant, I was just thinking....I wonder if there's a shorter aerial I can use. (y)

The MG 5 aerial is on the rear window, the bit below the heated rear window element that looks like a demister but doesn't demist.

I swopped my aerial with the wife's Kia Rio 🙂 which is a shorter aerial, as my car lives in the garage , had to remember to remove it each time i reversed in , has not affected reception on either car and it was free 👍
