To be fair I’d be annoyed if driving around in ECO only got me 180 miles.
I hate ECO in any car.
Kids in the car doing creche run most of the time. Fun to up it when they're not but mostly a waste for me. It's still quite nippy in eco for me.

Can’t comment on the long range models of each, but can on the standard range models.
The Leaf is a lot more efficient than the 4.
Despite the bigger battery of the 4 I’m struggling to get the same miles as the Leaf.
Example, I charged to 100% last night and I’m showing 139 miles to empty, and that’s been me driving gently.
Quite frankly, pathetic.
The Leaf bettered that even in the depths of winter, and easily did 150-160 hard driven miles in summer.

Who are these people who ‘buy’ EVs?
The percentage of people doing so is tiny.
I bought my MG4 outright, test drove on the first Saturday they hit dealers showroom, picked it up 2 days later.

Use it to feed my Bluetti AC500 + B300S home battery with Economy 7 electricity & expect to still be running it for the next 10 years.

ps
The Bluetti can also top up the MG4 with the granny charger if needed.

I think musk will do everything he can to hit back at MG and will bring a smaller and much cheaper car to market sooner than we think it won’t have all the bells and whistles the currant models have but do we really need them my wife has the 4 and the stuff on it will never be of any use to her in fact at the moment it’s unusable MG Pilot systems are far from perfect LKA is down right dangerous to use at the moment so even MG could leave all that crap off there cars for me and reduce there prices so come on Elon I’m waiting for you to start a new revolution all over again, and I will be in the queue. When ever this new car arrives.

They can’t leave the likes of lane assist off as it’s required for a good ENCAP score.
However, I’ve no doubt Tesla would implement it better.

My own view is that Musk has missed the boat with his pickup. That space is being taken by the Ford F150 Lightning.

A smaller hatchback would be a much bigger market to go for but likely to be a crowded space once the Chinese ramp up their exports.

Not being in the UK, I have a slightly different viewpoint. I know the MG4 and M3 are very different cars in different price brackets. But the moment you start zooming out of the UK context, which is probably MG's largest market, things look very different. I will compare the base Model 3, with the Trophy, as it still has more gear than the MG.

Here's a price comparison between the two cars in some of the markets they sell in and their equivalent prices in £.

MG4 Trophy:
1. UK: £32,495.00
2. Netherlands: € 36,285 = £32,000
3. Germany: € 36,310 = £32,000

Tesla Model 3 (Standard / RWD):
1. UK: £43,000
2. Netherlands: €45,000 = £39,600
3. Germany: €44,000 = £38,700
4. USA: $43,000 = £35,800
*all pricing before subsidies and incentives.

While just looking at the pricepoint in the UK, it's easy to discount Tesla as a serious contender to MG right now, but outside, world over, we are already seeing people move over from MG to Tesla even before the 'Model 2' or the Gen 3 platform being released. I can bet that Tesla starts easily well under £25k, even closer to £21k in the US and maybe £23-24k equivalent in the markets with LHS steering.

I don't know why Tesla is more expensive in the UK, and I don't know the price point the next car will come to in the UK. However, it will be game over for MG in the rest of Europe once that happens.

A lot of the 'crap' is there for NCAP scores which (presumably) drive sales in as much as people prioritise safety and might worry if Chinese cars are safe to drive.

UK Tesla pricing may be influenced by where the RHD cars are made and shipped from.

Hi guptashreyas I totally agree at a guess I would say the extra cost in the UK will maybe some sort of tax or import duty I don’t know, what I do know is Elon Musk will do his upmost to grab back the top spot in all classes and will be annoyed at the hype the MG4 has received recently especially in the UK.
This new smaller Tesla as been rumoured for a while now and tomorrow could be the biggest change to EV motoring we have seen yet.

Sorry tsedge the crap is making the MG4 in particular unsafe to drive if you switch it on the day we collected my wife’s MG4 from the showroom within less than 500 yards we very nearly end up off the road and it was only because I was driving that we didn’t because I had read here about the issue with LKA and I stopped and went into the setting only to find LKA was active been switch off ever since and the reason I wrote it was because I was driving is the Strength of pull on the steering my wife my not have been able to counter and my have end up in a ditch or head on the a van travelling in the opposite direction also from time to time the amount of excessive braking applied by the car as almost cause an accident so for me stuff the NCAP scores they are not worth a toss in my book when the car attempts to take over from its driver.
I bet but don’t know LKA wasn’t switched on when we had a test drive as there is no way my wife would have purchased it.

I wasn't disagreeing Les, just pointing out why it is there. I have called before for NCAP to be rethought with a much greater emphasis on proven effectiveness of new systems rather than ticking the box that something called X exists.

No tsedge I wasn’t thinking you where sorry if it came across in that way, I don’t know a great deal about NCAP and have only seen video clips of them crashing cars with dummies in side and yes that is very important testing none of us want to be in any kind of crash in our cars do we and it’s nice to know we might have a chance of walking away from one if we do, but some of the stuff they are fitting in the cars of today for me is unnecessary to say the least, I have mentioned before somewhere in the forum about the problems that MG pilot and not only the MG pilot for drivers who know nothing about these kind of systems if for example picking up a car at an airport somewhere abroad or here in the uk the LKA on the 4 is down right dangerous so much so if it has to be fitted to get these NCAP scores then it should be able to be disabled if the owner wants to and should say that way and not default to on again as some have reported here.
I have never had MG pilot before and now I have two cars fitted with it, my first MG 5 had a simple cruise control switch it on at a set speed and stay there that’s all it did these two I have now a 4 and facelifted 5 more than once just going down hill and not a steep one at that it’s braking using the brakes when there no need to and more than once on the motorways I could be following a car in front and somebody might overtake me and then come into the gap and my car has a fit trying to slow down ASAP when it’s not needed I am not fan of MG pilot at all

When you say ‘been switched off ever since’, do you mean your car remembers you want it switched off?
If you do mean that, the update to stop you being locked in the car will take it away from you and you’ll have to switch it off every journey.
It’s only two button presses, but so tiresome when you do lots of short journeys like me.

Not necessarily true - I collected my SE SR in November and switched off LKA immediately. Had the locking in update done last month and the LKA has not come back on, and stays off permanently.

As soon as Tesla is able to serve the sub-25K market the traditional car manufacturers could be in deep sh*t. Ford has killed the Fiesta instead of offering an electric small car. Will Fiesta buyers migrate to the Puma (much bigger, much more expensive)? BMW offers no replacement for the i3. What should i3 customers go for? Will they really pay almost double the price for a much bigger i4 or iX1 or will they migrate to another brand? Maybe I am the idiot, but I think the market demands affordable electric cars in the segments people have always been buying cars in. And unfortunately right now it's the Chinese who offer them.
The Missus Puma has just arrived, great little car, it is simultaneously big and small. The Fiesta is now about 150mm shorter than a Focus so not really that small anymore!

Same for me with my Trophy. I've had the locking update and LKA still stays off permanently.
