Remote control function failed

Longshot but does anyone have any idea what network the Esim connects to. I generally have good coverage on my personal o2 and EE work phones at home 🤷🏽‍♂️

I have poor reception at home with 3, and I know that EE and O2 are ok here. Not sure about Vodaphone. So presumably the esim is not on EE as it seems the issue I have is lack of connection between the esim and its network. I recall seeing that another car company uses a multi network SIM to maximise connectivity, but maybe MG don't.

Additionally, although iSmart won't connect to the MG 4 here at home, my wife has no issue with the Nissan app connecting to her Leaf here, using either 3 or EE. Also, as a related observation, I can't have a smart Scottish Power electricity meter because its SIM would not connect to their mobile network provider.

It’s most unusual. My iSMART wouldn’t work all morning. Was fine when I got to work. Completely dead again when I tried to pre heat the car after my shift and still dead when I got home. I had a few spurious air bag warning messages whilst in work so I’m curious if I don’t in fact have any airbag fault as such just every time the car decides to finally connect up to the network again it’s throwing that up 🤷🏽‍♂️

Update: still wouldn’t work this morning. Deleted and reinstalled app and it’s sprung into life… I won’t hold my breath though.

Deleted and re-downloaded the app this morning and it sprang into life…. Hurrah…. Nope Spoke too soon 😞

Try mid-morning when everyone else isn't trying to connect to their cars to warm them up. The servers might be overloaded.

The infrastructure should be scaled accordingly so hopefully we should not have a queue to preheat etc. surely.....if not then thats a major fail imo.

Have you tried the usual reset the head unit to clear gremlins.

Yes did a reset yesterday. Wondering if it’s worth disconnecting the battery for a bit.
If it’s a case of server overload then surely MG need to be upscaling that with the amount of cars they’re selling.
Neighbour over the road has an MG ZS and has no problems at all 🤷🏽‍♂️

The strange thing is it's intermittent...almost like the connection is timing out/going to sleep. You can try the 12v disconnect to do a hard reset. Also could you try it on another device...tablet for example. It shouldn't make a difference but🤷‍♂️

Could it be a TCU fault one wonders🤔

OK, and it's the same using another device....just in case scenario
I logged off of the app on my phone, logged on with a different phone, but still get the same message when I try to unlock the car or turn on air con. Strange that all the other functions work. I can check the vehicle status, find my car, see the battery status etc. Is there anything else I could try?

I have deleted and reinstalled the app and have reset the head unit, and still iSmart does not work at home. I then drove 1km to where there is a good signal on all UK networks and iSmart worked fine. EE is the only network that I can confirm gives me a good reliable signal at home, and so I have to assume the eSIM does not use the EE network. I have contacted the dealer I got the car from to see if more info can be provided.

Andy, does the status change in any shape or form with the car still parked on your driveway rather than after a journey (as Rob's post above). The last status may be held on the database rather than in real time from the car?

I guess I could try driving to a different location and see if it makes any difference.
My mobile signal at my home is moderate but don't normally have any problems and I can access the internet on my mobile data, no problem.

Removing the negative on the battery didn’t fix the problem and has now given me every bloody fault in the world. This is going well 🤦🏽‍♂️

Try this once you have connected the battery terminal:
You need to recalibrate the system by turning the steering wheel all the way to the right and hold it for a few seconds. Then all the way to the left and hold for a few seconds.

Locking the car for a few mins and coming back cleared all that. But still no communication from iSMART. Looking like a trip to the dealer is in order

On the drive to work I noticed there’s a little led lit up in the front courtesy light. On the drive to work it went out and thought I wonder if that relates to the signal for the system. Checked app and it worked. Got to work and it’s stopped working again 😂 does anyone know what the little led actually means then 😂

I've driven around locally to different network masts and it's not working still.
