MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

That surprises me because my car was with the dealer before the end of January.
Yep 10th letter is the manufacturing year letter and as its P is either 1993 or 2023

Edit: sorry should have said character opposed to letter

LSJ = MG Motor UK Limited - SAIC Motor, Shanghai, China
Yes I know that but we're discussing manufacturing date

It seems that MG ignores the ISO standard. The 10e position should be N (2022) instead of P (2023), showing the build year or the model year.
Mine says N for the 10th character and was built September 2022, the rules state that if a vehicle is manufactured in December of a year it is permissible to use the following years letter identifier along as the vehicle won't be sold prior to January 1st of the VIN year given.

From what I undertand this thread re oil leaks started back in October last year when deliveries of the MG4 in UK began with some leaking and some not, the same as now, so perhaps it doesn't matter when they were actually manufactured and it is just 'the luck of the draw'.
Also some fitted with the 'new' breather now seem to be ok and others not which may or may not be due to the way it was fitted.
It is also suggested here that driving the car at speed seems to be a contributing factor regarding the oil leaking which makes sense as the reduction gears are obviously moving faster and throwing oil out of a breather with a crazy design as it is fitted directly in line with the gears as discussed earlier.
However others have stated that they do not drive the car fast but still have the issue.
I know I am preaching to the converted but I feel it still boils down to the breather design and placement rather than model month. I doubt this has altered since day one and MG are just hoping the problem goes away as they have not really done anything substantial to recognize the issue and only treat each case as it arises. 😌

I don't believe in 'the luck of the draw', I believe that the oil leak has to do with a certain production range and that MG has already solved the problem. If so, it is to find out where the 'clipping point' is. In Germany in the begin of march was a collective recall to hopefully solve the leak problem. Maybe the N1 assembly plant gives a direction? Maybe a serie range of the first or the second batch of an specific type? I think MG knows which cars give the leak and which cars don't. To find the clipping point, if I am right, our only proof can be found in the VIF code because MG seems to give us 'the luck of the draw' feel to save money and to save prestige?

I don't think they have any prestige left to save. Nobody trusts a word they say anymore.

Agree, they are doing a very bad job in the after sales. However ... maybe the 'P' of the production year is the clipping point?
I agree that they have done more than just the new breather pipe. I would suggest an internal "baffle" or deflector has been installed to stop the oil going into the breather but they have not been proactive or brave enough to recall cars before this was fitted to try to save face from the earlier BS regarding overfill. Time will tell. Probably a cost saving excercise too.

A couple of 'maybes' there. I don't believe there is a 'clipping point' or that anything has changed regarding the breather fitting since inception apart from those that have now been fitted with a 'modified' breather that may or may not work.
There is complaints about leaking breathers here and on other forums that relate to cars going back to October last year right through to those picked up days ago that were manufactured this year so the manufactured date does not seem to have a bearing.
I doubt MG in China would vary the manufacture of the vehicles since last June when they first appeared in China and they are certainly not going to confirm or deny it regardless of different 'batches'.
Just my view. :)

FWIW the VIN for mine is LSJWH4099NN1xxxxx. Mine was built late August 2022. (Can't recall the exact date).
my VIN is LSJWH4096NN1xxxxx.
The COC paper state the car was made in Ningde, the production from this plant from 2019.
Interesting to know the N0 factory is.

My VIN is LSJWH409XPN0xxxxx and the place and date on the COC is also Ningde, 2022-11-13 @maverickz

My car does not leak. Maybe it's the N0 cars?

On the COC unter 0.2. there are "Type" "Variant" and "Version" labels, which are "SEH3" "1EAB2EI" and "AF5LKEA" for mine. Maybe those mean something?

Maybe there is link with the steering wheel at the right site and also with the bulge at the underside, to stream cool air to the transmission box? Sounds paranoïde, I know ...
So please, country and y/n bulge also if you give your VIF code.
