MG ZS EV Facelift - Have you ordered?

My local dealer has put up their Battersea Blue Trophy 🏆 I-Connect ( Demo model ) for sale.
It has covered 2,000 miles and they are asking ………. Wait for it : £34.350

Had a call from dealer, car was due mid march, that's not going to happen now. Will know in a few weeks even if its in April. Looking at May at earliest, although he couldn't even guarantee it would be here by July when I said I'd like it for holidays.

Reserved on 1st Nov order placed 26th Nov.

He said problem, as we know, is semi conductor issues and the fact that EV uses 5x more than those needed for ICE ZS.

He expects some SR to trickle through but no news on any significant numbers of LR coming any time soon.

I ordered a pre-reg standard range SE a couple of weeks ago and picked it up today. Having previously been in an Alfa Stelvio it could be seen as a drop but having driven it home from Knutsford to Liverpool I don't think it is entirely. It is a very nice car to drive. I started on 97% and ended the journey on 68% SOC with 3.1m/kwh which was OK given it was only 8C and still pretty windy.

I'll update you all as time goes by but at this moment I'm really delighted with the car and my move to EV motoring.

Congrats on the ZS EV. Would be great to hear your experiences once you have had it for a while.

Collected a new LR SE last Wednesday, then drove back 165 miles from the dealer. It was a pre reg car with 16miles on the clock when I collected it. Had to fill up (to 80%) at Stonehenge; I only got about 145 miles on an 80% charge, and it was down to 13%. I really need that quoted 200 plus mile range and wonder when I will see it; my commute is 104 miles each way, mostly motorways.

Its interesting to see MG more aggressively shipping Standard Range models recently as opposed to the Long Range ones (which were launched earlier and ordered by number of customers few months ago now). Surely the number of semi-conductors used by SR and LR models are the same and only difference is the battery?

These low ranges being seen on the LR are a bit worrying. I normally would expect at least 2/3 of the WLTP as a worse case scenario in cold weather, motorway driving and heat on and some people seem to be getting less than that. It makes me wonder if it's worth paying extra for the LR.
I'm wondering if the WLTP range quoted is in now Eco mode ?

Genuine question: is getting 145 miles on presumably faster roads, using up 67% of the battery (80% down to 13%) really that bad? Fag packet maths would indicate around 216 miles at 100%, which is more than 2/3 WLTP...what am I doing wrong in the calc?

EV Database indicates highway cold at 160 & mild at 200 so splitting the difference I'd expect 180 😕

When I was working out what I could get away with I was working on 70% of quoted WLTP range for cold motorway speed. Which gives 189. Based on what I’ve read on this forum for 5/ZS owners that seems about right

This is correct. Motorway driving only get 2/3 of the wltp range. That is less than 3mile/kwh. Only urban driving can achieve 270miles which is 4+ mile/kwh

Your figure is right around what I'm working to in my planning. 200+ motorway miles would be great in cooler climates, but sails a little close to the wind for me so I'd top up along the way for a journey that length.

Thanks! So getting 145 miles on 67% seems OK unless misunderstood the post. I've gone for the LR myself, so just keeping on top of what I can realistically expect.

Here is the official number.
Thank you, this is very handy! It's a little more generous than what I've planned for, but to be expected when there's so many variables such as the driving style and journey.

Had mine for a couple of days.

All going well.

At 80% SOC mine is showing 205 miles range which makes me a very happy MG ZS EV owner.

I have set the charge limit to 80% as the range is way more than I would use on a daily basis.

Of course I will charge to 100% SOC occasional to balance out the battery cells.

Car is showing about 3.7 miles/kWh, so the reported range seams fair.

Mixed driving with some MWay, but I don’t break speed limits.

With the best will in the world its not about breaking speed limits. Realistically, over the winter you're likely to get about 2.7mlspkw/h on a motorway, even at legal speeds. That's what I've got, and that's an average over 2000 miles, so I've no reason to doubt it.

Just this weekend I've seen as low as 2.4, given the wind rain and snow, that was on a 70 mile trip with an average speed of 50mph (the speed limiter was set at 55mph due to conditions), so nearly all motorway.

Now obviously this will improve into the summer, but I'd be guessing on how much that improvement will be. I suspect the average could creep up to 3.0 - 3.3 in my usage case.

I think it's important to be honest both with yourself and prospective buyers what the car will achieve, that 207 mile quote on MGs website doesn't look so far off the mark during slightly better weather but realistically in the depths of winter on a motorway you need to be finding a charger at around 160 miles, so you've got a good 25 mile buffer in case of issues.

Sorry if that sounds like a bit of a downer but that's my findings over the first 2000 miles.
